I met up with two of my Lang-8 friends in Kyoto yesterday – a Japanese person and a visiting American.

The three of us have been friends on this site for a long time, but this was my first time seeing the American friend in person.

Since we have talked to each other on a skype group chat several times before, it felt like I already knew them well.

Because of the rain, the only popular sightseeing place we visited was Fushimi Inari shrine.

Instead, we ate gyukatsu (deep-fried beef) at a restaurant.

It was tasty, but I prefer tonkatsu (deep-fried pork).

After that, we went to a cat cafe.

I'd never been to any animal cafes.

Looking at pretty cats really relaxed me.

Surprisingly, all other customers were foreigners.

They also seemed to be fully at ease.

Finally, we went to Nakamura Tokichi cafe and ate delicious sweets such as hoji-cha parfait, shaved ice with matcha and kuromitsu syrups, matcha jelly and ice cream.

The matcha jelly had been recommended by another Japanese Lang-8 friend. ^^

They were right! ー yummy!
