Japanese Food within Sugar

Today, my one of neighbor who is Indonesian asked me how to make Japanese food i.e.( SUKIYAKI' sauce, GYOZA, SUSHI). She asked me what is different between cooking wines and cooking sake. Of course, these tastes are different and smells too. But I have never used cooking wine for my dishes. Cooking sake is for western food or something? Anyway, she is really curious about Japanese food. I'm curious about Indonesian food as much as hers. I ate some Indonesian food that my hause keeper who is Indonesian made. It was so good. Some Indonesian foods are very similar between Japanese ones. However, my Indonesian neighbor mention why Japanese people cook own food with sugar many times. That's not healthy. I guess Some Japanese people don't eat too much and eat lots of fish.
