The monarch of Thailand passed away days ago.

There were reportedly more than 80,000 people lining up in front of the palace to pay their condolence.

In early days, Taiwan was ruled under authoritarian regime by Chiang Kai-shek.

People had to read his biography and sing songs to praise him for his larger-than-life merits.

When he just passed away, all of Taiwanese channels were only allowed to play monochrome videos, the flags had been at half-staff for one month, the day he died was announced as a public holiday and students had to cram his will.

The whole nation was down in the dumps, and folks were in despair.

What happened back then seems ridiculous today.
