I did a research on why do we eat a cake and blow candles on our birthday.

The custom originated from Greek mythology.

In the story, folks who wanted to play up to Goddess of the moon "Artemis" would light the torches and lay out honey cake and candles in the altar on her annul birth ceremony.

Hence, Greek parents believes that candles have a mysterious power.

If the kids blow out all the candles and make a wish, Goddess will grant their wishes and bliss them.
