I saw a shocking news just now. It says that Toys R Us is planning to close down and sell out all of its stores in the US. Toy R Us was famous in Japan as well, when I was a child, I used to go there to see what I get for my birthday with joy. Today, many toy stores are disappearing around us, and I know why it’s happening. I heard that Jeffrey Bezos became the world’s richest man recently, and he’s the founder of Amazon. Now that I know what’s going on, it sounds ironic to me.

When I look back on my childhood, toy stores seemed like treasure islands to me. I remember that I had many places which made me excited around me. Today, you can get almost all you want with just one-click on the chair. It’s unbelievable in comparison with the old days, it’s convenient and great for many people. At the same time, I know something with certainty. Convenience is never directly linked to happiness. I wonder if modern children have many places which make them excited and innocent. I don’t mean Disneyland and Universal Studio Japan, it’s somewhere around them. And, I know it’s extremely hard to say it’s reversible in our modern society.

Thank you for reading my entry.
