When I hear on TV that many people say, “Why did only I survive?”, I become sad. Of course, many people are thankful that that they survived, but many people feel sorry for their survival.
Their sadness reminds me of WWII. Many people, including famous writers and others, said the same words after the war. “Why did only I survive? Excellent people died earlier than me.” Especially what deepened their sadness is the fact that the over half of the war deaths of Japanese soldiers and officers were not by battles, but death from hunger.
Most dead soldiers and officers fought mainly against the US forces, but now many US soldiers and officers are working in Japan to protect the Japanese people. I think that this is one of the miracles of world history.

I think in general, the Japanese people are very humble and unselfish.
