Hello!
I will be in Korea in a week! I'm super excited!!
I have a few questions about Korea. Sorry, this is in English because I don't know enough Korean yet! If there are any non-natives who have been to Korea, I would love to hear your opinions too!
How is the weather there in the summer? I will be in Suwon, Seoul, and going to Jeju Island for a few days as well.
What is the fashion like for university girls?
What are some places I MUST visit before I leave?
Where are the best places to shop?
What/where are the best nightclubs, karaoke, etc?
Do most Koreans know a little bit of English?
Also, I will be there for about six weeks. I would love to meet my language friends! If you want to practice English or help me with my Korean while I'm there, it would be a great opportunity!
Thank you :)

Fashion? well, one's style of fashion differs from individual to individual so I think you don't have to care about your clothes in Korea!(However, do not wear clothes that look old-fashioned lol)
You are planning to visit Suwon, Seoul, and Jeju island, aren't you? The places that I recommend you to go shopping are 명동(Myung Dong), 신촌(Shin chon) and Dong-dae-moon in Seoul, Galleria Time-world department store in Daejeon.
Nightclubs? As I know, there are some nightclubs for foreigners in Seoul, Yong san borough(용산구), lee-tae-won(이태원), but I don't know exactly sorry.
English?... You don't have to worry about it. Some Koreans speak English very well they will help you. If you don't know the way to somewhere, don't worry about it because road signs are usually written in Korean and English. Moreover, there are many English native speakers who came to teach English at school or are family member of US armed forces in Korea. You can get their help .
Welcome to Korea in advance XD
I will be sure to visit those places! Thank you so much for the info!
Actually I am out of my country now.
But I think I can give you some tips though I don't know what is going on in my country recently :p
Anyway I can see there are quite plenty of recommendation given above! But I might be able to give you another advices because I'm from Jeju Island!
Jeju Island is an awesome place that you must visit :)
There are many roads you can take a walk at, which is called 'Olle.'
These roads surround all around the island so you can choose some of them to walk. (I prefer the number 7 one. This is also the most popular one.)
If you really dig walking watching beautiful scenery, you will have to visit 사려니숲길. I totally loved to visit there.
Or if you don't like walking, you can go to various museums in 중문 Jung-moon, Seogwipo. I liked 'Believe it or not Museum' the most. You will probapbly love this too! (And English translation is provided also, I think.)
Hmmm, I will think if there's more. :)
But I am not saying that everyone is dressing like this but I think it's pretty close :P
Nightclubs... There is only One night club in Jeju, but It's boring. But if you wanna know where it is, just send me a message. I will tell you then
And there are hundreds of Karaokes in Korea!! Anyway, Karaoke is 노래방, No-rae-bang in Korean. You will find it confusing when you are seeking for Karaoke in Korea if you use the word, 'Karaoke.'
Also! I think pretty many people in Korea can understand English, I mean, if they are kind of young or seem to be 20s or so. But you shouldn't expect them to speak English fluently. Only that. Oh, but they will be super nice to you ;)
Okay seems like I've answered your quesions as much as I can!
Hope you enjoy the time you will spend in Korea.
:)
This is the right one. You can check it here
-weather is too hot to go anywhere, it will make you feel tiresome. but there's good place to enjoy, go to COEX which has awesome place to eat, you can watch movie too. also Insadong would be good place cause you can see Korea traditional things
What is the fashion like for university girls?
definetly I bet Gangnam station in seoul.
What/where are the best nightclubs, karaoke, etc?
you can find best nightclubs in Gangnam station( subway green line)
If you have any futher question do not hesitate, just ask me, I live in seoul.
my e-mail is beacoolguy@nate.com
have a great time. bye.
Best places to hide are banks or a house having AC I think.
University girls are wearing a short skirt or pants because it's hot
and they think they're hot when they wear it.
You should go to Kangwonland casino before you leave because entry fee is free for foreigners.
Go to Myeong-dong to shop, clerks are good at Japanese or Chinese.
I think they are good at English as well according the fact that mastering a foreign language
makes the next language easy to learn.
Most korean karaokes are, by and large, good.
Whom you go with is a more important issue than where you go I think.
Koreans speak English because they learned it for, at least, 6 years at junior high and high school.
Just make sure that you don't speak too fast since we only read it, we haven't spoken or heard it.
Thank you for this info!!
Seoraksan? Jirisan? Or any of the nice mountains? They have some of the best food in the country side. And all the best nature and temples.
There is so much nightlife in Seoul. Hongdae, Gangnam and Itaewon have the clubs and western-style bars. But there are like billions of Korean drinking places. I've had fun in Sinchon, around Seoul Nat'l Univ, Gangnam, Konkuk University, Jongro and more.
Chilling out near the mountain areas after hiking is also fun. We used to rock climb all day and then have amazing food and drink at the bottom. Usually we were outside eating and stayed late into the night. There were always tons of other people and the atmosphere is just so much different to the smokey bars inside the city. You can find many places on the subway line in Seoul. I'm sure Suwon has many places like that too.
Also check out the Han River. Can bike along it. There are swimming pools. Soccer games going on.
There are millions of things to recommend but here are just a few that are a bit different to what others have suggested.
