Watch this only after preparing a handkerchief in your hand. You may need to set your speaker louder a bit.

(for those who couldn't get the story)

A grandfather clock ticking as time goes.

A high school girl was in trouble with a pair of bad boys.

There came a high school boy, who looked determined. He knocked the bad boys out, saving the girl. The girl wanted to thank him, which he rejected.

In the spring, when flowers from cherry blossoms flew in wind, the boy in the school uniform walk on street with a grumpy face, followed by the girl also in the uniform. He turned around and gestured the girl, "Go away."

It was raining. The girl in the uniform was standing in the rain, holding an umbrella. The boy with a grumpy face came over without an umbrella. The girl offered her umbrella to share with him. He refused it and ran past her covering his head from rain with his bag.

The boy with a grumpy face was smoking on a bench in a park. The girl came and sat on the other end of the bench. She spoke to him loud via a tin can telephone, perhaps confessing her love with him.

The grumpy boy was riding on a motorcycle. Behind him sat the girl wearing a helmet, raising her fist with excitement when they ran on a road at the seaside.

The day, when the two graduate from the high school, the girl was waiting for him at the school gate.

The two settled in a small flat. The boy worked in a factory, while the girl worked in a supermarket as a cashier.

The two were watching a display of a wedding dress. The boy turned to the girl. The girl shook her head. The dress was too expensive for them, but she was happy.

The grumpy boy launched a motorcycle shop.

The two bought a grandfather clock. They spent cold winter together. The woman became pregnant. They celebrated the arrival of their daughter.

Meanwhile, the man's business didn't go well. He had to apologize to this guy and that. He was frustrated. When the woman, now a mother, prepared dinner for him, he was in a so bad temper that he turned them over out of the table, made his wife upset and his daughter cry.

And there was a phone call, telling the end of his small motorcycle shop. He hung the phone, crying miserably. He shut the motor cycle shop in front of his family.

As time went, the daughter grew up and finally left the home. When the mother said good-bye to her daughter at a station, both in tears, the father was only watching them from a distant corner.

While the wife was knitting a muffler at home, the husband was working at a factory, often scolded by his boss. He became alcoholic. The wife tried to stop him drinking, but it ended up with being slapped by him. On her way back to home from shopping, the wife happened to witness her drunk husband seducing a young hostess.

One day, when the husband came home, he opened the door and saw his wife sprawled unconscious on her stomach on the floor besides the uncompleted muffler.

In the hospital, a doctor told the husband the diagnosis. The husband couldn't accept the diagnosis. In shock, he grabbed the doctor by the collar. Nurses around tried to soothe him down.

In a hospital room, his wife sit on a bed without an expression. She was no longer herself. The husband cried on her laps.

With the muffler the wife was knitting for him in his hands, the man made his mind.

He started working as a construction labourer. He worked hard outside in winter and spring with his wife's muffler around his neck.

The man brushed the hair of his wife. While flowers of cherry blossoms were falling, he spoke to his wife via tin can telephone, just as his wife did it to him 40 years ago, possibly telling her his plan.

He kept working very hard outside in summer and fall, always wearing the muffler. He worked hard in rain or sunshine. He noticed his heart was aching a bit.

The next fall came and he received his salary. He soon went to a bridal shop and bought a wedding veil, which he couldn't afford when he married his wife. As soon as he grabbed the veil, he ran. He ran to his wife. This was his promise he made via the tin can telephone.

Then, the moment came. While he was running, his heart stopped working. He gasped, looked into the sky, and then fell over, releasing the veil. He died.

He ans his wife on a wheelchair were together at a seashore, watching the sea. He gave the veil to his wife. While they were there, time flew. His wife became older and older, while he stayed as he was. He couldn't stand to see the consequence. Desperate, he stopped the movement of pendulum with all the power he could muster.

Then he experienced flashbacks of his wife in high school days, in their marriage. His elderly wife patted on his shoulder, suggesting to let it go. Crying, he agreed to the suggestion and let the pendulum go. His wife resumed to became older and then disappeared. She died.

She lay on her deathbed, being watched by their daughter. Her husband was there to welcome her. She holed his hands and joined him. Two of them ascended hand in hand, turning around. At every turn they became younger. Then, they were in their youth, wearing a wedding dress and taxied still hand in hand.

The grandfather clock ticking the time.

Two of them were standing at the shore wearing their bridal costumes.

The grandfather clock stopped ticking at midnight.

When Tekken created the animation as part of a TV program, he used music by MUSE. MUSE themselves watched the animation on youtube and was moved by its inspiration. They decided to release an official video with Tekken's animation for their music, which is the version I introduced above.

This is the original version.
