Incidentally, I heard a new word: "おてんき".
At first I though it meant (something like) "weather station".

今日、七時ごろに起きて朝ご飯を食べました。
そして、猫の写真をとりました。
それから、仕事へ行きました。
家から仕事まで一時間ぐらいかかります。
今日は少し忙しかったです。
今夜、七時頃電車を降りて家へ歩きました。
その時、「Man eating Chicken」のサインの写真をとりました。
「Man eating Chicken」は少し面白いですとおもいます。
なぜそのサインが面白いか知っているか。

Today I got up at about 7 and had breakfast.
Then I took a photo of my cat.
After that, I went to work.
From home to work it takes about 1 hour.
Today was a little busy.
This evening, at about 7pm, I got off the train, and walked home.
At this time I took a photo of the "Man eating chicken" sign.
I think "Man eating chicken" sounds quite funny.
Do you know why the sign sounds amusing?

「楽」の中に「白」と「木」があります。
そして、白ハトは木の上に歌っています。
漢字は面白いです、と思います。^^

Yesterday, a friend asked "do you have a favourite Kanji?" in my journal.
My favourite Kanji, probably, is "楽" from "music".
In "楽" there is white (白) and tree (木).
Also, it's a white dove singing on top of the tree.
Kanji are fascinating, I think :)

素晴らしい、と思います。

I'm watching a program on television.
"Hidden Talent" is on the television.
A young man is studying Arabic.
At school he failed his exams.
Also, he's homeless.
He has only five months.

I think it's incredible.

三つの文楽人形遣いは人形を動かしていました。
そして、文楽太夫「Bunraku chanter」は歌を歌って文楽三味線「Shamisen player」は演奏しました。

On April 7th, I saw a Bunraku show in Osaka.
The performance was amazing.
Three Bunraku puppeteers were moving the puppet.
Also, a chanter (tayu) was singing, and a Shamisen player was playing a Japanese instrument.

先月、大阪と京都と奈良に行きました。
大阪で妻と文楽を見ました。
たぶん、つぎのエントリーは文楽を書きます。
桜をたくさん見ました。
少しい寒かったがとても楽しかったです。
先週、家に帰りましたよ。
日本のところがとても綺麗です、と思います。
又しても日本に行きたい。

Last month, I went to Osaka and Kyoto and Nara.
In Osaka, my wife and I watched Bunraku at the theatre.
Maybe my next entry will be about the Bunraku show.
I saw a lot of cherry blossoms.
It was a little cold, but it was really good.
I returned home last week.
Japan is a really beautiful place I think.
I want to go to Japan again.

ハチの話。
最近、私はハチの話を読みました。
ハチは犬です。
大学の先生はハチをもらいました。
ハチと先生は東京に住んでいました。
毎日ハチと先生は渋谷駅へ行きました。
毎日先生は電車に乗った、「行ってきます」と言いました。
「ワン、ワン」。
それから、毎晩ハチは渋谷駅で先生を待ちました。
先生は「ただいま」と言いました。
嬉しい犬は「ワン、ワン」言いました。
ある日、先生は帰りませんでした。
先生は倒れました、がハチは分かりません。
これから、毎日、十年間渋谷駅へ行きました。
先生を待ちました。
でも、先生は帰りません。
今、渋谷駅の前にハチの像があります。
悲しい話と思いなす。


The story of Hachi.
Recently, I've a story about Hachi.
Hachi is a dog.
A university professor was given Hachi.
Hachi and the Sensei lived in Tokyo.
Every day, Hachi and the Sensei went to Shibuya Station.
The Sensei got on the train every day and said "See you later"
"Woof, woof," said Hachi.
After then, Hachi was waiting for the teacher every night at Shibuya Station.
"I'm home!" said the Sensei
"Woof, woof" said Hachi with a happy voice.
One day, the teacher did not return.
The teacher had passed away, but Hachi didn't understand.
From then, Hachi went to Shibuya station every day for ten years.
He waited for the Sensei.
But, the Sensei didn't return.
Now there is a statue of Hachi in front of Shibuya station.
It's a sad story, I think (but really touching).

今日は日本語のレッスンをしました。
レッスンには「乗ります」、「降ります」、「かかります」、「出ます」と「着きます」を練習します。

例：
私は月曜日から金曜日まで家から駅まで歩きます。
五分ぐらいかかります。
そして、駅で電車にのって会社の近く駅でおります。
車で駅を出ます。
車で八時半頃会社に着きます。
私の猫は「分からない、お腹が空いたよ」と言った。

Today I had my Japanese lesson.
In the lesson I practiced: "norimasu", "orimasu", "kakarimasu", "demasu" and "tsukimasu".

For example:
I walk from my house to the station from Monday to Friday.
It takes about five minutes.
Then, I get on the train at the station and get off the train at the station near work.
I leave the station by car.
By car, I arrive at work by about 8:30.

最近、たくさん雨が降っています。
僕は昼休みに散歩をした。
私の古い靴には穴があったので足が寒かったです。
それから、駅を出る後で靴屋に行って新し靴を買いました。
英語に言い回しは「Good weather for ducks」だから鴨は雨が大好きです。

Recently there has been a lot of rain.
At lunchtime I went for a walk.
My old shoes have a hole in them, so my feet were cold.
So, when I left the station I went to the shoe shop and bought some new shoes.
In English we have an expression "Good weather for ducks" because ducks love the rain.
