I had attacked of an influenza last weekend so I was in bed.
My eldest daughter was out to play with her friends and my youngest daughter was watching video.
Even though I was sorry that I couldn't play with or take care of her, she was full of love toward me.
Suddenly, she ran to me and screamed, "Mom, I love you!" and I jumped up in the bed.
As soon as she screamed so, she ran back in front of TV saying, "Oh, the program is back."
The love was only between CMs.

as far as I know influenza=flu and kaze=cold/common cold

そうなんですか。日本の辞書には「flu=インフルエンザ、流感」と書いてあります。「流感＝風邪」です。だから、間違って覚えていたようです。

    Just 'flu' is correct. Or you could say 'I had a bit of flu...'

    'All of a sudden' is another option.

Hmm, 'commercial message' must be an 'advertisment' or a 'commercial break' between the T.V. programs.

Well a 'commercial break' is considered as a 'collective noun' and can be single or plural because it can last for a few minutes, with two or three advertisments during that period of time.

If the T.V. program was long, it would have lots of commercial breaks.
