In Japan, girl or boy pop groups have been popular for quite a while.
Their dances are very dynamic and they often lip-sync while performing.
Everybody loses their breath while dancing.
I prefer the live songs than recorded perfect songs.
I want to listen to the famous singers' live performances.
On the other hand, I didn't care if Michael Jackson lip-synced.
I wanted to see his perfect dancing.
Do you think lip-sync is wrong?
Lip-sync sometimes cause funny accidents.
He falled from the stage but we kept hearing his voice.

Hmm, I haven't seen any live performance to actually comment whether I like Lip sync or not ^^; To be honest, I don't like live performances as I am not too fond of crowded places.
I used to go to see many live performances.
My favorite Japanese singer Yumi Matutoya was very popular but her singing was poor.
However, she didn't lip-sync, I liked it.
Thank you for your corrections.
I prefer the live songs over/than their recorded perfect songs.

I can see why you used 'on the other' hand but there's usually a contrasting sentence before using this expression.
He fell from the stage but we kept hearing his voice.
I always wondered about that.
There was an instance in the past with Britney spears who was caught lip-synching a performance- There was an uproar and it looked inappropriate because it feels like she was trying to fool the audience (when she wasn't really singing her best) and she really is NOT singing. Usually we pay to hear them sing... though from your perspective you pay to see them perform :)
From the performers point of view it must be hard to maintain quality singing and be entertaining
I agree with you.
We usually pay to hear them sing.
The tickets are expensive and they should sing songs for the audience.
That's proffesional.
Thank you for your corrections.
I don't really listen to too many pop groups, but I know in rock and metal bands lip-syncing is rarely done and is frowned upon. Usually it is pretty easy to tell that a band isn't lip-syncing because the singer's voice and the tone of the instruments are different than on the recording.
As you said, rock and metal bands' lip syncing are so difficult because of their performance style.
They play instruments by theirselves.
Their fan must hate the fake performances.
Even if something is difficult to do, we are too proud to resort to faking it.
Instead we force ourselves to improve our skills so that difficult things become easy.
My yonger brother loves the guitarist Akira Takasaki.

When I watch Arashi concerts, I know when they are not lip syncing because they always make mistakes :) I would rather see them make mistakes than be perfect too.
You must have watched 紅白歌合戦. ^^
Even mistakes are charming for their fan.

This is 山ピー's lip sync.
Soooo funny, right?
The only live concerts I've been too are for rock and metal bands. Those bands don't lip sync. If they can't perform well live, then they usually won't be very famous in that genre.
As a result sometimes the words are a little different when live, and sometimes they extend songs, etc.
I can understand why Michael Jackson lip synced though. You don't go to such a show to hear him sing, you go to see his incredible dance show. haha
I went to Madonna or Whitney Housion concerts, too.
It's far from Whitney and Michael so I was so sad.
I saw Michael on the big screen. (>_<)
There have been cases of funny accidents when a singer was lip-syncing.
In the link below, there is a video of a singer who kept "singing" even after he fell of the stage.
I'm not surprised but it is possible to dance and sing at the same time. It's called performing!! :) Nowadays many singers are just dancing.
Do you know 演歌 in Japan?
演歌 singers hardly move.
Thank you for your corrections.
LOL!!! That's too awesome! Thanks for sharing that video, haha. Erm, I'd rather hear their real voice than pay to just see them dance. I can watch youtube videos of their performances ^^:; Plus, the thing that makes live performances so great is the artists ability to build up energy and get the audience excited and have a good time. This can't be achieved by lip-syncing, at least not for me. Losing breath, sweating, etc...all of this shows the effort and amount of love artists are putting into their performances for the fan's sake.
Losing breath, sweating, that's a live performance.
We pay money for a real performance.
I've never done lip syncing at karaoke box. :P
