Homestay in Japan

ホームステイとは、一般の日本人家庭に滞在することです。 「礼儀やマナーを大切にする日本人とうまくやっていけるかな」 「まだあまり日本語が話せないので私には無理」 など、ホームステイはハードルが高いと思っている留学生も多いと思いますが、実際はそんなに心配することはありません。 ここでは、ホームステイとはどんなものなのか、どんなメリットがあるのかを紹介します。

This is a random article from a Japanese magazine. I want to practice reading and understanding some Japanese articles.

From the English title, I know this entry is about a homestay. But, I can also understand the katakana for homestay. I cannot understand much kanji but I think someone is speaking about their homestay experience. I think it says something about staying with a Japanese family...his Japanese is still not good so he doesn't speak it much...高い...is something expensive?...I think it mentions that other international students also think something...しんぱい...something about worrying...
I don't understand the rest but, maybe it's something about what one can really gain from doing a homestay...

I wonder if I am correct about any of this??
