By Meng Chiao (751 – 814), Tang Dynasty, China.

Across a benevolent mother’s fingers, threads were being woven into a garment;

Flustered that the son might return very late, she was sewing as tightly as possible;
Who says a blade of grateful grass can repay the rays from the spring sun.
