Advertising aimed at children should be banned. To what extent you agree or disagree?



许多针对孩子的广告是出于商业目的的,对他们并没有太多益处。我觉得那些专门面向小孩的广告应该禁播。

Many advertisements targeted at children are out of commercial purposes, which cannot actually benefit children. I agree that those advertising should be forbidden to the largest extent.

这些广告会影响到儿童的正常学习。他们花费大量时间观看商业广告,而这些广告本身并没有教育意义,最后浪费了他们宝贵的学习时间。如果这些时间用来看书或者参与社会实践的话,他们至少可以学到一些有长期价值的技能或知识,对他们以后的学业发展有实际价值。
These advertising can adversely affect normal study of children. They may spend a large amount of time in a day watching commercial advertising with few educational implications, wasting their precious studying time as a result. If they can devote these leisure time to reading books or engaging in social practice, they can at least have learned some knowledge or skills, which from a long perspective, have advantages to their future academic development.


另外,这些商业广告可能会对儿童造成负面影响。儿童的自我控制能力有限,他们往往容易被那些商业广告的诱惑,产生强烈的购买心理,吵着让父母掏钱购买一些没有价值甚至有害的东西,比如说枪,玩具刀之类的。长期以往,可能会让孩子形成一种暴力倾向。
In addition, these commercial publicity can cause negative influence on children. Children are normally not aware of their poor ability to control their behaviour. They may easily be tempted by those advertising and produce intensive desire to purchase the advertised products, arguing with their parents in order to buy some worthless or even harmful stuff, for example, toy guns or swords, which may develop violent tendency of children.

还有一个问题。商业广告会在儿童群体中制造攀比心理,从而达到他们的商业目的。部分商业广告背后隐藏着强烈的心理暗示,让孩子觉得这样东西非买不可。如果一个孩子看到其他小孩拥有有某个广告上的玩具,而自己没有,就会觉得这是一种缺失,于是在一些孩子可能会为此嫉妒,而作出不恰当的行为,比如偷别人的东西。
There is another problem. These adverting can produce comparing mentality among these kids to finally reach their commercial goals. Some advertisements have been rooted strong psychological hints, making kids feel that they have to possess one, and otherwise, they will have a sense of lose. Some kids may envy other peers who have had the stuff they long for and are likely to steal it from others.

总之,我觉得针对儿童的商业广告更多的是满足了商家的需求,而并未真正替儿童着想,应该尽可禁止这些广告出现,让儿童有更多的时间学习有用的知识和技能。

In summary, I have to say that a majority of advertising for children have only met the needs of advertisers, but haven’t really taken children’s interest and healthy growth into account. These ads ought to be banned, which will allow children to have more time to study useful knowledge and skills.
