Hi. Today I try to make some sentences with phrases which I learnt at my school.
Dose it make sense?
今日は、学校で習ったフレーズを使って文章を作ってみたいと思います。
通じるかな?
1,a cock and bull story
2,an old wives' tale
.......................
1, One of my friends tald me his recent story which he had dinner with the prime minister.
But I think it's a cock and bull story.
友達が、先日大統領と夕食を共にしたと言っていた。
が、あれは、作り話だと思う。
2, In Japan, it is commonly said that if we eat grated radish and grilled brevoort at the same time, we will be suffer from cancers.
I think it just an old wives' tale.
日本では、大根おろしとさんま(青魚の一種)を一緒に食べると癌になると言われている。
が、あれは、一種のおばあちゃんの知恵だと思う。
Do you have any cock and bull stories or old wives' tales?
Thanks!

Correct - in British English! :)
Do they make sense?
They = the sentences (plural)
2,an old wives' tale
also correct in my opinion
1, One of my friends told me his recent story in which he had dinner with the prime minister.
But I think it's a cock and bull story.
Or: "But I think it's a load of cock and bull"
I always got told as a child, that if you picked a dandelion, you'd wet the bed that night!
I'm pretty sure that's a load of old cock and bull ;)
p.s. You don't really hear anyone say "cock and bull" very often, but it's a good phrase!
Thanks always!
It's a funny tale^^
Each coutries have each own old wives' tales, don't they!
"load of old cock and bull" is new phrase to me.
The English in which I have been learning in my school is the only English to me now.
So it's very useful and thankful to your real English!
Have you heard it Japan or U.K?
It's new to me!
I'll be careful to use garlics!
It is common saied in Japan that bernt deposits(of garlic and any other foods) cause cancer.
But I guess it is saied in whole world.
