I watched the movie "南極料理人"（means "a chef in the south pole") at home.
That was the story about life of a chef who had lived for about a year in the south pole as a menber of the reserching team.
There were very unusual characteres, life in south pole we could not expect and the ties that bind people in south pole and people wating for them in Japan together, so I enjyoed those.

For example, "... in Japan together was impressive."], so I enjyoed enjoyed those.
You might understand the points Japanese chuckle, if you watched this movie. If you watched this movie, you might understand some of the points (not sure if "points" is the right word, I'm just using what you've put in) about the Japanese and chuckle.
