벼락을 치다 -- there was lightning
우레를 치다 -- there was lightning
천등을 올리다 -- for it to thunder, for there to be thunder
I always wonder about thunder and lightning. In English, lightning is the light and thunder is the sound.

There was only a 20% chance of rain on weather.naver.com today. it's pouring now !!! There was a real loud bold of lightning that hit the ground near my house and after that's it's been raining hard for the last 10 minutes. So funny to have the rain immediately follow the thunder and lightning like that!
