Hi, everyone, I am a university student from Canada who is learning how to speak conversational Japanese. I learn by having conversations with Japanese people at Japanese-English language exchange clubs and writing down what I want to say but don’t know how to. I think this is the best way to learn how to speak naturally since I am targeting what I don’t know. I did my best to translate the following sentences into natural Japanese that you would speak to a Japanese person, but I still don’t know if they are grammatically correct or if you would use some of these words in a conversation at all. I have tried to add as much context as I can in the English section in parentheses to help you try to understand the situation where the sentences were spoken. I would greatly appreciate it if you try to correct my sentences so that it sounds like natural Japanese that is used in a casual conversation setting. Thank you.

1. (CONTEXT: I am explaining how I learn Japanese)
I’m using the script of this anime to learn how to read and pronounce.

2. There are weird words and words with weird kanji readings that come up in anime scripts.

3. (CONTEXT: I am trying to remember a kanji that had the same radical (部首) as the one I am pointing at)
This character had the same radical as the one before, though.

4. (CONTEXT: My Japanese conversation partner is asking me if a certain way of calling someone in English is appropriate and I compare it to a similar situation in Japanese)
This way of addressing someone in English is like if I just met him and just called him without any honorific.

5. (CONTEXT: I am explaining that I don't think studying ancient Japanese texts helps me understand modern Japanese better)
I studied ancient Japanese texts, but the language used does not apply to modern language usage.

6. Meanings of words that use Kun’yomi readings may be related to word meanings in Classical Chinese.

7. (CONTEXT: I am explaining my listening skills in Japanese)
I can’t follow really theoretical arguments and debates.

8. I’ve heard that Australia is a country where there is a lot of racism against Asian people.

9. (CONTEXT: I am asking what language my conversation partner's parents speak at home)
What do your parents speak amongst themselves?

10. (CONTEXT: I know the general area of where a certain place is, but not the exact address)
I don’t know the exact location, though.
