Well, I'm 19 years old now. This year, I made a significant decision, that is I'm going to America as an exchange student. I have never been abroad before, not to say this time by my own. I am a little bit nervous, but the most troublesome thing at the moment is dealing with Canada transit visa. I booked Air Canada's flight ticket since it's cheaper, however, the side effect is I should transfer flight in Canada for 2 times, which made the whole flight 36h26min long. I don't think I will buy Air Canada's ticket for the second time.
The good news is, I have the chance to broaden my horizons, and no matter how hard it is, I will never be afraid! HAHA~

我19岁了。今年我做了一个很重要的决定——作为交换生去美国读书。此前我从未出过国，更别说一个人出去。我有一点紧张，但目前最麻烦的事情是办理加拿大过境签证。因为价格便宜，我预定了加拿大航空公司的机票，然而副作用就是我需要在加拿大转两次机，这使得航程有36小时26分之长。我想我再也不会购买加拿大航空的机票了。
好消息就是，我有了一个可以拓宽视野的机会，不论未来有多艰难，我都不会害怕！哈哈~

A semicolon (;) is a punctuation device that will combine your two sentences as one thought and eliminate the need for "that is."
I have never been abroad before, not to say this time by my own all on my own.
Eliminate the comma. By adding "all on my own" you suggest you have been abroad before, but it's always been with someone else

You don't have to put the exact time it takes for travel time since it is a diary entry because it is informal, so I would round down and say " a little over 36 hours long."
