- A Boy with a Girl’s Mind
A Boy with a Girl’s Mind
I often see a girl walking to the junior high school in my neighborhood and I was wondering why she wears a boy’s school uniform. The girl’s school uniform is composed of a blazer and a skirt while the boy’s one is a blazer and pants. So I can easily see she is always wearing the boy’s one.
Her hair is long and ponytailed. She is slim and walks beautifully. I guessed she might refuse to wear a skirt for some reason.
The other day, I finally found out the reason. I talked with my neighbor whose son is a junior high student. She knew about the girl.
To my surprise, she is physically a boy, but her mind is a girl. Her parents have accepted the fact. She wanted to wear a girl’s uniform and asked the school to let her to do so, but they didn’t allow it. That’s why she has to wear a boy’s uniform. However, at least she can grow your hair and have a girl’s haircut. Probably she acts as a girl at school, too.
Lately, “gender identity disorder” is getting to be known. There were some TV dramas or books about it, and there is a fashion model who has the problem.
So I knew about that, but I had never seen a person like that in person.
I don’t have any negative feelings about those people. I just imagine how difficult for them to live as they want.
I am relieved to hear that the girl is getting along very nicely with her classmates. Other girls treats her as a girl and enjoy being with her.

I agree with you.
It must be tough for her parents to accept the fact, but it's important to face it and support her. I am glad they do.
I haven't heard of the manga, so I googled it. It looks like a complicated story.
I think it can be a good opportunity to know about people like that. Probably there are a lot of people who have the problem and can't be understood by others.
Yes, I hope so, too.
In this area, every children goes to the same elementary school, and the same junior high school, so all of her classmates have known her character for a long time, and she is getting along with them now.
I hope she will be understood by people around her when she leave the junior high and goes to a high school somewhere out of this community.
