The temperature was 98.6 degrees F (37 degrees C) in our area yesterday. We've been told to save the electricity since the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, but now is not the time! Weather forecasters say we should turn on the air-conditioners and hydrate us adequately.
After lunch, I went to a nearby McDonald's to read newspaper in the cool space. It's usually not so crowded on Saturday afternoon. Because their main customers are office workers or students, and you know, most of the offices and schools are closed on weekends.
There were already more people than usual. Probably they also ran away from thir humid homes to save electricity as I did. I managed to find a good seat for spreading the newspaper and pens and a dictionary. It was a newspaper in English and I bought it in June. It took such a long time for me to finish it. Seemingly I have also saved the cost for English newspapers unconsciously.
Oh, I have a good news today. A weather forecaster says the temperature goes up to 96.8 degrees F(36 degrees C). Sounds like a cooler day than yesterday. Yay! *sigh*

このあたりの昨日の気温は華氏98.6度（摂氏37度）だった。2011年の東北の地震以来、政府からは節電を要請されているが、そんなこと言ってる場合じゃない！天気予報士たちもエアコンをつけて、十分な水分補給をするようにと言っている。
昼食後、涼しい場所で新聞を読もうと、近くのマクドナルドに行った。土曜の午後はいつもそんなに混んでいないのだ。そこの主要な客層はサラリーマンや学生で、週末はほとんどの会社や学校は休みだから。

うちは今つけられるエアコンがないので、毎日サウナを楽しんでいます。昨日は図書館に避難しました。みんなで共有できる涼しいスペースがあるのはいいですよね。個々の家で電気を使うよりも、ずっといいと思います。動いている室外機が減れば、外気も少しはましになると思うな。あぁあぁあぁあぁ～雨降らないかなあぁあぁあぁあぁ～。(←これ扇風機に向かって言ってます。)

Do you really mean "heat index"? That is different to air temperature.

Like me, they were also probably trying to save on electricity as well as escape from the humidity of their homes.
(Luckily,) I managed to find a good seat where I was able to spread out my newspaper, pens and a dictionary.
The newspaper was an English one that I had bought (back) in June.
It took me a long time to finish it. OR: It took me forever to finish it.
Seemingly/ (It seems) I have also unintentionally saved on the cost of English newspapers.
Oh, and today, I have some good news.
According to the weather forecast, the temperature will only go up as far as 96.8 degrees F(36 degrees C).
