The present Emperor and the Empress got married in 1959 and had their first baby in 1960.
My father liked that name very much, but he hesitated to name his daughter after the prince's name, so he changed the Chinese characters of the name.
So there are still three Chinese characters?
When my husband's father watched the TV, he was stunned at the boy's play and he decided to give the boy's name to his new baby.
Do you know a the famous American professional basketball player was named after Japanese famous expensive beef beef's name?

Very interesting. I always believe that there's a story behind each name and indeed yours is far more interesting than I could have thought.
I have two Chinese characters in my name.
I"ll introduce some of them.
Mine is one of them.(*^_^*)
The present Emperor and the Empress got married in 1959 and had their first baby in 1960.
"current" works in place of "present" as well.
I was born in 1962 and the name of "Michiko" was very popular at that time.
"of" is unnecessary here
My father liked that name very much, but he was hesitant about giving his daughter the princess's name, so he changed the Chinese characters of/in the name.
my dictionary says 皇太子妃 is "princess" while 皇太子 is "prince"
My husband was named after a very talented boy who played the vibraphone.
My husband's name was given to him by his father.
The order of the sentences makes it difficult to use pronouns here :(
On the other hand, not using pronouns makes it sound a bit redundant...
"His father" <-can be confused with "the talented boy's father"
It makes perfect sense in japanese however... due to the は and が particles >.<
Perhaps it would be best to merge this with the previous sentence, e.g. "My husband was named by his father after a very talented boy who played the vibraphone."
When my husband's father watched the TV, he was stunned by the boy's performance and he decided to give the boy's name to his new baby.
"saw the boy on TV" sort of sounds better
Do you know that a famous American pro-basketball player was named after a famous, expensive Japanese variety of beef?
One day his father went to a steak house in America with his wife and the name of the restaurant was "Kobe steak house".
He really liked the taste of Kobe beef and was told that "Kobe" was a name of famous kind of beef and a town.
He and his wife had been thinking that if they could have a son, they wanted to give their son a special name .
or "if they ever had a son"
The origins of the name is interesting.
I had my suspicions that he was named after Kobe beef, but never really knew for sure - until today, that is. :P
Yes, you are right.
I was born when the present Emperor was a prince so the Empress Michiko was princess Michiko at that time.
She was the first princess from public so people called her "Mitchy" and very popilar.
