I think that should be cos though :P ’cuz’ is slang for いとこ。

'cuz and 'cos sound the same when spoken. I have seen them both used as slang in writing for "because" too. I think either is okay!

そうだね、ちょっと冗談でした。In British English 'cuz' and 'cos' would be said a it different but it really isn't important since slang isn't official language anyway ;).
