"Was held on", not "hoid" or "held".
If you just want to get a little fancy with the date (because it's in more formal written text), spell it out.
I did my best but I didn't make it.
"I was failed" is a bit of a passive way to say it. "I didn't make it" shifts the burden of fault a liiittle bit more on you (though not much).
I wouldn't recommend using it as a go-to expression to talk about testing, though. It just generally conveys the idea that you fell short of a goal.
So for now, I'm studying English or Japanese or world history.
I'm not sure, from this sentence alone, how your studying English/Japanese/etc. has anything to do with you failing this test. I assume it was a result of the test (like you have to take a break now and studying something in the humanities, as opposed to in business or finance?), so I changed the sentence to reflect that.
