I went to eat a smorgasbord with five friends today, because today is a holiday.
We ate many dishes and played what makes a new dish using many ingredients.
Surprisingly, we stayed at the restaurant for five hours!
We talked many things then.
It was very joyful time.
I want to go again in the near future...

We ate many dishes and played what makes a new dish using many ingredients. Do you mean that you created a new dish yourself? Because if so: '... and made a new dish using different ingredients'If you meant something else, please say and I'll try to help out.
We talked about many things then.
It was a very joyful time.
This post made me hungry...
It hurts but thank you for explaining it to me. :)
I got curious so I checked the Wikipedia article and found a better explanation: any situation where a person is invited to select whatever they wish among lots of pleasant things, such as a smorgasbord of university courses, books in a bookstore, etc.
Sorry for the long explanation, I just really want to be as precise as possible since it is sometimes very confusing for people (even native english speakers!) to understand the multiple usages of words.
Your conversation is very beneficial to me.
I don't know natural collocation in English, because I'm Japanese.
Your argument is very plainly.
日本語で”バイキング”というのは英語で"viking"といわないと聞いたことがあるので。
Smorgasbordは日本のバイキングの起源の語(origin)であると書いてありました。
