How to choose an English name
When I was in senior high school,I chose "Jacky" as my English name.Even now I have no idea the meaning of the name, but I know that with the name,my friend can't say "hi" to me on some occasions, like at the airport, since "hi Jacky" sounds like "hijack".
I think there must be some rules to choosing an English name, could you tell me about them?

How should you choose an English name ?
You could also keep 'How to Choose an English Name', but without the question mark.

At least the name Jacky isn't as popular as David, Kevin, Alex or Daniel ^^. The names I listed are the most popular names for Chinese American males around where I live...
Jacky comes from Jack, which comes from John. They all share the meaning of 'God is gracious'. Jack's been one of the most popular boys names in the UK for more than a decade.
Usually we don't think about the origins or meanings of names (apart from our own name). People choose names based on whether they want a traditional or original name, and what a name means in popular culture (e.g. whether the name is in a famous book, or whether there is a famous person with that name).
