*This is a practice I did for my coming test, so it's somewhat "hollow"...since I wrote it in limited time, could you please check it for me :) whether there're inappropriate usages or mistakes. thx
These days the phenomenon of dishonesty has made the headlines frequently, and fuelling the shift towards an "honest society" has become one of the main concerns of the publics. For example, there're people cheating in exams, selling fake commodities, or taking stimulants... towards whom people usually hold a quite intolerant attitude.
The reasons for such dishonest acts vary. For those who cheat in exams, it's mainly because that a better result grants there wish of getting a higher rank, which is something of a vanity.
I firmly adhere to the principal that under no circumstances should a person be dishonest, nor should the society. Now is the time to look these flaws in the face and get rid of those drains on our social property and prosperity. From what has been discussed above I think it's safe to draw the conclusion that all citizens need to keep an eye on such behaviors mentioned above.

The sentence structures you use are quite advanced. Good job. As you yourself have noted, you'll need to fill in the body to justify your concluding statement.
I mean it is a sentence fragment with no connection to the surrounding sentences.
>the word "that" is not a must or is it a mistake?
It's a mistake.
>And one more thing, "something of a ..." must be followed with a countable noun? Can I eliminate the word "a" and add an uncountable noun after it?
You could. "Something of interest," "something of value," are common examples. "Something of a vanity" is not incorrect, but it is an unusual phrasing.
>If I write a composition during a test, can I say "I wrote it in limited time"? I googled and found that "limited time" is more likely to be used for commercials and offers?
You could say, "I wrote this under a time limit."
"Can I..." in daily conversation is fine. "May I..." is more polite but they are interchangeable in most situations. "Can I..." in writing is fine but it make your writing look weak.
Remember you are the author. You're in control; you don't need to ask the for reader's permission. Don't write "Can I write about the decay of society?" Instead, write compellingly about society's problems, and you won't need to ask the reader's permission because you already have their attention.
