涼しい風が西から吹いています。
A cool wind blows from the West.
一週間ほど子供が38度の熱を出していました。
My child had had a fever around 38℃ for about a week.
当初、子供は1歳で初めての発熱なので、ヘルペスウイルス6型の感染症かと思っていました。
At first, I thought it was a herpes virus type-6 infection, because she was one year old and this was her first of running a fever.
しかし、小児科の本によると数日で解熱して発疹が出ると書いてあります。
But, according to a book of pediatrics, it said that the rash would come about after a couple of days fever.
そこで妻が小児科の近所のクリニックに連れて行きました。
My wife, then, took her to a neighboring pediatrics clinic.
すると、医師は感染症ではなさそうなので、こまめに体温を測るように指示しました。
The doctor directed her to measure the body temperature often, because she didn't look like a infectious disease.
一日に何度も体温を測っていると朝だけとても高く、夕方には解熱していました。
We measured her body temperature many times a day, then, we noticed that it was very high just in the morning and was low in the evening.
さらによく気を付けてみていると、朝、水を飲んだ後に汗をたくさんかいて、急に熱が下がります。
Seeing her more thoroughly, we noticed that her fever declined suddenly just after drinking water and sweating in the morning.
どうも脱水症状になっていたようです。
I think she was dehydration.
私たち両親が風邪を引いた後で、鼻水もたくさん出ていたのですっかり風邪だと思い込んでしまっていました。
Since us parents had had cold just before that and she had much dripping nose, we believed her to have a cold.
とてもよい勉強になりました。
It was a very good practice for us.

I can't think of a way in proper English to say "much dripping" correctly. We would rarely use "much" like that. Perhaps "an very drippy nose"?
This was a very good learning-experience for us.
Or, if you really want to use "practice", perhaps "This was very good practice for us." But, I think you mean that this was something good for you to learn (to do better in the future), not something that you want to repeat over and over again.

I suppose neighboring pediatrics clinic is OK but I have a feeling you mean neighborhood pediatrics clinic.

So replace the word she with it.1) It didn't look like an infectious disease.However, if you'd like to use the word "she".2) She didn't seem to have an infectious disease.

This is one of those things which is fine grammatically but sounds unnatural .1) It was a very good exercise for us.2) It was a good learning experience for us.
My comment: "I suppose neighboring pediatrics clinic is OK but I have a feeling you mean neighborhood pediatrics clinic."
The best way I know how to explain the difference in nuance between neighboring and neighborhood is:
1) In real life in that sentence, most people would say neighborhood :)
2) Neighboring has the feel of "nearby" while neighborhood has teh feel of "In my neighborhood".

situated or living near; adjacent:
Neighborhood:
the area or region around or near some place or thing;
vicinity:
Neighboring has the vibe of adjacent ..at times.. whereas neighborhood has the somewhere in the the neighborhood vibe.
I really wouldn't worry about this too much because the 2 words can sometimes be used interchangeably. It also could depend on where you are. My whole life I have heard "Neighborhood" to describe what you were trying to describe.

"But" is fine.
But "However"/"Nevertheless" is better in a formal writing.
We had learned something new and valuable.
