Good Japan's stereotype is that Japanese are polite.
Umm...That's almost right.
But we Japanese sometimes can't say our own idea for this.
Bad Japan's stereotype is that many Japanese have an abnormal sexuality.
Ah...I think some people of all developed country have one.
But Japanese are good at painting it on manga.Oh my...

but...
ugh never mind.. haha
Especially Japanese are too thin.
there are many of stereotypes about japan that i know.
the point of view from an american about japan is
Japanese are weird.
Japanese hate dolphins ( LOL )
Japanese love octopuses
Japanese people are Chinese. haha I hear a lot of Asian people in America that are not Chinese hate being called Chinese.
there is so many...
what does japan think about America?
American are a little fat, bad at Maths, straight-forward, communicative, and easy-going.
What do you think about China?
>Japanese are weird.
I always hear that!And I think it's funny.
Of course it's overestimated.
>Japanese hate dolphins
We love...to eat dolphons!(just kidding)
Young Japanese seldom eat it just because there are few on sale.
>Japanese love octopuses
At least,I like those.
It's actually delicious.
We like to eat chewy things.
>what does japan think about America?
Some Japanese think American is strong, fat, chasing a dream, low-educated, commuting many crime, and Johnny Depp.LOL
Yeah,Japanese are ashamed of being too being close.
We also don't like standing out.
Many Japanese actually don't know Turkey well.
But many Japanese in the Internet loved Turkey
because they think Turkish like Japanese.
Is that true?
>workaholic
We don't have courage to scamp our work.
If we did so,we might be retired.(Oh...)
And we are scared at it more than necessary.
>reserved
We can't be so friendly to those who we first meet.
>prurient
↓like this
>>Ah...I think some people of all developed country have one.
>>But Japanese are good at painting it on manga.Oh my...
Japanese think Chinese are rapidly increasing in number, don't like cleaning very much, produce many pirate editions, have a slanted eyes, says "aruyo" to suffix when speaking Japanese.
And many Chinese character in manga are wearing her hair in a bun,and cute qipao.
Many Chinese workers in Japan may have said "aruyo" because they are poor at speaking Japanese.
But that is thought to be cute now,and some characters on manga speak like that.
i was talking with this one girl ( 黒人 ) black girl and she said and i must of told her 10000 times that my ex girlfriend was Korean and not Chinese.. she would always say she is Chinese and it would piss my ex off LOL
@ namari
what about brad pitt.. LOL yeah john depp is one of my fav actors but what about BRAD lol
Yeah america does have one of the highest crime rate but that is because all the money do be made in this country and how the borders were such open. To many different cultures i think anyways.. oh well T_T;;
i want to move to asia or Russia ^^
America is amazing it just i want to experience something else.
oh LOL when i said japanese like octopus i didn't mean eating them LOL i ment the whole hentai octopus rape stuff all the japanese people like hahahahhahaha
And, John depp is famous as well as him.
oh hentai! LOL
Yeah,some Japanese like it.(1 out of 30)
And there were pictures that octopus rape girls in 1700s.
Actually I also lik...You never heard me say that. OK?
too funny.
Japan's positive stereotype is that Japanese are polite.
I might use positive rather than good, it is a bit more clear. If you use good it might sound like you're saying "accurate". Also, the adjective modifies the word "stereotype", so it has to come directly before it.
Japan's negative stereotype is that many Japanese have abnormal sexual preferences.
same as above. Also, I can't really explain why it seems better to end the sentence this way, I'm sorry.
I think all developed countries have some people like this.
But Japanese are good at painting it in manga.
As sugoimochi said above, we are all fat and have guns (not really). I've heard that we don't know or care about anything outside of the country (which may be true of some people) and that we are stupid and greedy (which is definitely true of some people). I don't really hear about any positive stereotypes, except that the US is the "land of opportunity", where anyone can be anything.
Japan have something like feudal systems.
So when we hear "America", some people think about American dream!
That's cool.
>we don't know or care about anything outside of the country
>that we are stupid and greedy
But there must be those person all over the world.
>have guns
In Japan, we think of guns as something like fantasy...
Here in Singapore many young girls love BL. Well.............. I shall not comment on it...
The stereotype in Singapore is that we are really afraid of losing in general. That explains our stereotypical panicky behavior.
It is also a stereotype that we are terrible in English. That is because we often speak "Singlish" actually. It's a mix of many different language in our local flavor.
I think at least one 1 of 20 Japanese girls like it.
And many boys like me actually don't care of this
because we have many chances to see BL even if we don't want see it,and we boys get used to seeing it.LOL
>The stereotype in Singapore is that we are really afraid of losing in general. That explains our stereotypical panicky behavior.
I have never heard of this.
We think Singapore never dirty something.
>It is also a stereotype that we are terrible in English.
Oh,one of Japan's stereotype is also that!
That' because we often speak "Engrish".
Most of the Japanese pronounce "r".
And actually that must be true!
Some Japanese say that they don't have to learn English
because we live in Japan!
LOL
To my mind, we think about Japanese people that they are very polite, very respectful of the rules and expect everyone do the same.
We also think you Japanese (like all eastern Asian people) are always working. You never have rest.
And a last one, we think you live in very small places like just big enough to sleep.
---------
About France.
We're told we eat frogs and snails. Very few people actually eat them.
France means Paris. I don't comment.
We're dirty. This one is very hurting. I don't know where it's from. Of course it's false. (The same about girls aren't shaved. It's not true.)
We're arrogant. Well, some people are, some people aren't. There is no rules.
We like cheese and wine. Young people don't. The older we are the more we like, old people say.
We always are on strike. Actually, most people can't be on strike (not because of the law but de facto). Teachers often are on strike.
We live in 60's. Thnak you American movies.
Japanese looks like so but it's just custom.
But Japanese certainly think about people around them more than other countries' in a good and bad way.
So...
>expect everyone do the same
That is true.
>We also think you Japanese (like all eastern Asian people) are always working. You never have rest.
Japanese did so from 1945 to 1970.
But now Japan is an economic power.
As many developed country in Europe,we don't work so hard.
Many developing and new-industrial country in Asia, Africa, South America work harder.
For example,South Korea, China,Brazil and so.
>we think you live in very small places like just big enough to sleep.
Only in Tokyo and some other a large city.
---------
>We're told we eat frogs and snails. Very few people actually eat them.
We think some French eat it but we often don't think of it as good or bad.
>We're dirty. This one is very hurting. I don't know where it's from. Of course it's false.
>We're arrogant. Well, some people are, some people aren't. There is no rules.
What???
In Japan,we think Paris is one of the most beautiful area in the world.
And we don't think French are arrogant.
But I sometimes hear that French hate English.
Personally,I hear negative stereotypes like this in the foreign BBS.
>We like cheese and wine. Young people don't.
We think French often drink wine.
>We always are on strike.
We don't have such a stereotype...
In short,Japan somehow loves France more than other European countries.
I don't know the reason.
Whenever you talk about France or French, the first reaction must be "wow, what a romantic country, it's the most romantic country in the world, France is full of beautiful girls and boys (actually my French teacher is very handsome in our eyes, though he said he is just a very normal French.)"
Later then, when I began to learn French, some westerners told me some of the French people they met are very arrogant. And my friends said "French really hate English". My teacher said France has a lot of vacations, France are always on strike, they are lazy, they are bad at maths, etc.
But mostly these impressions are very positive.
But if you ask a new zealander what our stereotype is don't believe what they'll say because it'll be a filthy lie.
And we also think there are sooo many koalas and kangaroos.
Oh...Australian don't get along with new zealand.
But I hear that many country don't get along with the country which is next to it,like Southeast Asia.
(Personally I love them.)
Koalas though, I've only ever seen in zoos. Kangaroos aren't common, and Koalas are pretty rare.
The most common australian animals are all the birds we have. Cockatoos, rosellas, budgies, tons of 'em. Everywhere.
And australia's thing with new zealand is a weird thing. It's like a sports rivalry between two local soccer teams more than an actual kind of bitter feud.
I thought kangaroos were so scary animal.
There are also many birds in Japan.
Crow!all over the large city.
>And australia's thing with new zealand is a weird thing. It's like a sports rivalry between two local soccer teams more than an actual kind of bitter feud.
I feel at ease...good!
When people think of America, like everybody said it is fat, lazy, and guns. Also, we eat bread and corn or something for breakfast (LOL), rich(weird), ignorant, racist.
-_-
The stereotypes I heard about Japanese people... Since where I live Japanese people are very rare, so people believe in these stereotypes. hmm..
1)Japanese guys/girls are obsessed/worship people with blonde hair blue eyes.
2)Hate other Asians especially Chinese and Koreans.
3)Cant roll the R's / differentiate between R/L
4)Hi-tech
5)geniuses, hard working, quiet, polite, bows a lot
6)Knows martial arts (this goes for all Asians)
Of course I know these are not true :o.
even in Japan...
But we think some American are sooo eager to come true his dream!(American dream)
>1)Japanese guys/girls are obsessed/worship people with blonde hair blue eyes.
When there is a person with blonde hair blue eyes, we pay attention to him/her.
But when there is a black, we do so.
It's just a curiosity.
Of course, there are some Japanese who respect them.
We usually do not care them.
>2)Hate other Asians especially Chinese and Koreans.
There are few Japanese like that.
They are in the Internet BBS.
Most of the Japanese do not care them.(neither like nor hate)
But I love Asians,Europeans,Africans,and...ah,everyone.
>3)Cant roll the R's / differentiate between R/L
That's right.
Many Japanese don't speak English well.
In addition to it, they are poor at leaning English.
>4)Hi-tech
Just as other developed country.
>5)geniuses,
Definitely no.
> hard working
Japanese did so from 1945 to 1970.
But now Japan is an economic power.
As many developed country in Europe,we don't work so hard.
Many developing and new-industrial country in Asia, Africa, South America work harder.

> quiet
That's right.
> polite
Umm...That's almost right.

> bows a lot
When you meet a person who bows a lot,I bet he is Japanese.
I was asked this question in job interview
the interviewer asked me 'What do you think about Japanese, or what is Japanese's image?'
I was a bit stunt but in the end I answer 'In my opinion Japanese image is hard-working, stress about time and serious about safety most (especially, more than cheap price) when they have to choose to buy or pay for something.
However, to say the truth, I don't know. (hahaha)
I have met too many people who are not kind of that stereotype image.
