I often slept with turning on the TV in living room.
전 종종 거실에서 TV를 켜 둔채 잠들었죠.

(You may know that Korean take off their shoes in a house, and we freely lay down on the floor.)
(한국인은 신발을 벗고 집에서 생활해서 마루에 자유로이 누워있는 생활을 하는 것은 알고 계실 겁니다.)

As a result, I got a cold.
그 결과, 전 감기에 걸리고 말았죠.

My nose is still itchy and blocked. My nose is running whole day.
코는 여전히 간질간질하고 막혀 있습니다. 콧물이 하루종일 흐르네요.

Actually I visited to my wife's parents' house to see my son last weekend (with a cold).
사실 전 지난 주말 처가에 (감기를 갖고선) 아들을 보러 갔습니다.

Although I worried for infection to my son, I couldn't stand to see him.
제 아들에게 옮기지 않을까 걱정을 했지만, 보고 싶어 견딜 수 없었죠.

Now, I'm regretting with a big concern for my son.
지금은 아들이 매우 걱정이 되어 후회하고 있네요.

Because of I couldn't stand for the hot weather like these days.
요즘같은 더운 날씨를 참을 수가 없었거든요.

The degree is normally under 20 in april, but it is like much higher temperature yesterday.
4월에는 일반적으로 20도 이하인데, 어제는 훨씬 더 높은 것 같았어요.

The weather is getting warmer and warmer with the years.
날씨는 해가 갈수록 점점 더 더워지네요.

There is need of air conditioning even in april.
4월에도 에어컨이 필요할 것 같아요.

One of my Lang-8 friends asked us how to pronounce an Korean alphabet.
제 Lang-8 친구 중 한명이 우리에게 한 한글의 발음을 어떻게 하는지 물어봤어요.

It's really difficult to write it. So, I was searching in Korean Websites, and I found one in KBS homepage (Korean Broadcasting System). You can trust the source.
그걸 쓰기가 정말어려워서, 전 한국어 웹사이트를 찾았었고, KBS 홈페이지에 적당한 것을 찾았어요.
믿으실 수 있는 자료에요.

There are standard sounds of Korean Alphabet by an announcer.
아나운서가 한글의 표준발음 하는 것이 있는 것이에요.

Firstly, enter the URL shown below, and then you find the screen like figures in this diary.
일단 아래의 URL을 치세요. 그러면 여기 일기장의 그림과 같은 화면이 있을 거에요.

Secondly, click number 1 and number 2 sequentially.
두번째로, 1번과 2번을 순서대로 클릭하세요.

Then an announcer exactly sound the Korean Alphabet in the order of number 3 and 4.
그러면 아나운서가 한글을 3번과 4번 순서로 정확하게 발음할 거에요.

Number 3 is written like "표준어의 자음은 다음 19개로 한다".
3번은 "표준어의 자음은 다음 19개로 한다"라고 적혀 있어요.

It means that "Consonants of standard Korean are the 19 as following".
이것은 "Consonants of standard Korean are the 19 as following"를 의미해요.

Directly after that, he sound in the order of "ㄱ ㄲ ㄴ ㄷ etc...".
그런 다음, 아나운서는 "ㄱ ㄲ ㄴ ㄷ 등..".의 순서로 발음할 거에요.

I'm still in laboratory selecting a paper for presenting in journal club.
난 저널클럽에서 발표할 논문을 고르느라 아직 연구실이다.

However, the times is not boring since I found very impressive songs by a new signer, 'Busker Busker' today.
그래도, 오늘 버스커버스커라는 가수의 아주 인상깊은 노래들을 발견해서 시간이 지루하지 않다.

They were second winner in an audition program, Superstar K season 3.
버스커버스커는 슈퍼스타 K 시즌3라는 오디션 프로그램에서 2등을 했다.

It is almost same format with American Idol.
이 프로그램은 어메리칸 아이돌과 거의 비슷한 형식이다.

Nowadays, so many audition programs like this are on the air (about 4-5 programs).
요즘은 이런 형식의 프로그램이 아주 많이 (4-5개쯤)방송되고 있다.

In there, I think new singers in Superstar K has outstanding abilities.
그 중에서 슈퍼스타K의 가수들이 좋은 능력을 가지고 있는 것 같다.

Actually, the music of Busker Busker is not gorgeous, but I think many Korean miss ballad music with a new style.
사실 버스커버스커의 음악은 화려하진 않지만, 많은 한국인들은 새로운 스타일의 발라드 음악을 그리워 했을 거다.

But, I agree that their style is similar a signer, '김광석', who died about 16 years ago.
그런데, 그들의 스타일이 16년 전에 죽은 김광석 스타일과 비슷하다는 데에는 동의한다.

Altough I'm not sure that my foreign friends like the singer, it is certainly good thing to have a great young singer for us.
외국인 친구들이 이 가수를 좋아할지는 의문이지만, 좋은 젊은 가수의 등장은 우리에겐 좋은 일임에 틀림없다.

Their words is like simple but have a pure heart.

가사들은 단순하지만 순수함을 가지고 있다.

'Ending of cherry blossoms' is GOOD!~

전 일반적으로 오후 11시쯤 되어서야 집으로 갑니다.

It's quite late, and my lifestyles is fit into the timeline.

많이 늦은 시간이고, 제 생활습관은 이 시간표에 맞춰져 있죠.

I think I can finish my experiments before 8-9 p.m. But, I do not hurry to finish, and finally the time is going to midnight.

생각으론 오후 8-9시 이전에 제 실험들을 끝낼 수 있을 것 같습니다. 그런데, 전 일찍 마치려 서두르지 않고 결국 시간은 자정을 향하곤 하죠.

Even I know it is bad habit, my life is same everyday..

나쁜 습관인걸 알지만, 제 생활은 매일 똑같습니다.

It has no benefit to my life because there is less time to spend for myself and my family.

이런 생활습관은 제자신과 제가족들을 위한 시간이 없기에 제 삶에 있어서 전혀 도움이 되지 않습니다.

For having healthy lifestyles, I will have a good habit, which make a detailed schedule for a day with deadline of every tasks.

건강한 생활습관을 가지기 위해, 전 제 일들을 끝내야 할 시간을 적은 자세한 시간표를 만드는 좋은 습관을 가질 것입니다.

난 2009년에 생물학 분야에서 Ph.D.를 받았다.

And, now I want to go abroad for my postdoctoral training.

그리고, 지금은 내 박사후과정을 위해 해외로 공부하러 가길 원한다.

I just have started to find out an appropriate position.

적당한 포지션이 있는지 막 알아보고 있다.

Many seniors and friends advised me that I should send my CV as much as possible no matter what kinds of study you want.

많은 선배와 친구들은 내가 원하는 것이 아니더라도 가능한 많은 곳에 이력서를 보내야 한다고 조언을 한다.

Although I agree that it would be unexpected of my future, I still want to look over my future subject carefully, even to get a job is getting harder then ever.

난 비록 내 미래가 예측가능하지 않다는 것에는 동의하지만, 직장을 얻기가 점점 더 어려워지더라도 내 미래의 연구주제는 신중히 고르고 싶다.

일주일간 영어일기 쓰는 것을 빼 먹었습니다.

I couldn't remember why I didn't write my diary.

제가 왜 일기를 안 썻는지 잘 기억이 나질 않네요.

But, the only thing that remind me a week is passed is the difficulty of writing a short sentence in English!!

하지만, 한 주가 지났다는 사실을 기억하게 해 주는 유일한 것은 짧은 영어 문장하나를 쓰기가 버겁다는 사실입니다.

Everyday practice is mandantory if someone want to get better skill of foreign language.

누군가 외국어를 잘 하고 싶다면 매일 연습해야 한다는 것은 필수적인 것 같습니다.

난 일주일에 세 번씩 음료를 받기로 한 여성판매원과 계약을 했다.

She said that it is really really good for my health with providing me a sample.

그 여자분은 나에게 샘플 하나를 주면서 내 건강에 얼마나 음료가 좋은지 열변을 토했다.

And, said a lot of talks that I can't remember now.

그리곤, 내가 차마 기억할 수 없는 아주 많은 말들을 했다.

As a result, I had a contract with my regret.

결과적으로, 난 후회와 더불어 계약서 한 장을 가지게 되었다.

Oh.... The terrible thing happened again.

아.. 또 다시 벌이고 말았다.

Even it would be fine for me to pay about 20,000 won for 12 drinks, I think it will only last about two or three months.

12개 음료로 2만원 가량을 지불하는 것은 괜찮을지 모르지만, 아마 난 두세달쯤만 지속될 거 같다.

I always want to have a firm character, but I'm a such a man of straw...

난 항상 강한 의지를 가지길 원하지만, 참 우유부단하다..

After you got 메주 (fermentated soybeans), you can make the souces, 간장 (soy source), 고추장 (soypaste mixed with red peppers) and 된장 (fermentated soybean paste), from them.

1. To begin, prepare sterilized a big pot and 18% salt solution dissolved in water.

2. Brush 메주, and then add them one by one into the pot.

3. Pour salt solution into the pot.

4. Add dried red peppers (for disinfection), charcoals (for removing bad smell) and jujubes (for preventing misfortune, it is like a superstition).

5. Let them for 2-3 days outside covered with potcloth.

6. For maturation) Close the lid of pot, and then let them for several months (2-3 or more).

7. Filter the mature 메주 with a sieve.

The filtered solution is 간장 (soy source), and the rest of them are 된장 (fermentated soybean paste).

Before you use 간장, boil them for sterlization. If you let them again for more then 3 months, they gonna make a really good taste. 고추장 is the mixed souces with 된장, 찹쌀 (sticky rice), 물엿 (starch syrup), salt and powerdered red pepper.

It was a kinds of an annual event in several decade ago. We regarded it is very important thing to make these sources since we make almost all of Korean food with them. But, as you can see, it is really time-consuming, so we normally just bought them from a big market and use it for making Korean food. In fact, the taste of one specific food had big differences between families by their own home-made sources.

Yesterday my father went to '작명소 (naming center)'. I quess my friends in the West may be unfamilier to it. Lots of Korean believe one's fate can be estimated by their birth year, day and time. And, we also regard their name affects on their destiny. So, we give one's name with something special technique (I don't know how they do). Therefore, we pay some money to get a good name for their descendants. Anyway, my father visited naming center and called me with four candidates, '도윤', '성윤', '시우' and '준우'. I picked '도윤' because it is easily pronounced, and the spell in English is also easy, 'daw-yoon'. I also expected that my son can use his English name as 'Dawn'. What do you think about the name? Is it usually used for someone's name in your region?
