There are about 11100 characters in a usual dictionary of XING HUA and about 57000 characters in Chinese Dictionary while there are about 600000 Oxford dictionary.
Someone may say English a richer language compared with Chinese because there are more than 600000 words in English while only 57000 characters in Chinese. But this is a wrong opinion because Chinese characters are not English words.
In English Sunday(星期天） Monday（星期一） ... January（一月） February（二月）...are proper nouns and they must be embodied in the dictionary but you will not find the 星期一 星期二...or 一月 二月 in Chinese dictionary. Because there is no need, everybody in China know 星期一 星期二。。。。。。星期N and I believe there will be no one who will consult a dictionary to know them. There are too many proper nouns in English while there is a little in Chinese. For example:

So if you which language's vocabulary are large, I think there are much more words in Chinese rather than in English. Because there are only 26 letter in English while more than 50000 characters in Chinese. So English speakers need to remember too many words but Chinese don't need to remember words, they just need to remember characters.
I heard that one person can easily read a Chinese newspaper when he remember 2000 Chinese characters but if you only know 8000 English words, you will find it's too difficult to read one English newspaper.
When Chinese read a new word “水仙花”(narcissus), I believe there is no barrier can stop him reading. He can easily know 水仙花is a kind of flower and there is no need for him to consult the dictionary. But in English, if you don't know narcissus, I think no one can guess it's a kind of flower.
So English speakers need to remember too many words but Chinese don't need to remember words, they just need to remember characters.
I think English is not a good language when compared with Chinese in vocabulary. And maybe that is why I have already spend so many years learning English but can't still use it freely.

I have already been studying English since I was a primary school student. I think most Chinese people have the same situation as mine. We all have spent so much time and so much money on studying English but what do we get from it. I think most people who spend so much time studying English can't express their mind freely or communicate with others fluently in English or watch English films without Chinese subtitles. I know English is very important but is it that important? There are three main subjects that we must learn and the score we have in these subjects will determine which higher school we can enter. The subjects are Chinese literature、mathematics and English. In the collage, we don't have to learn Chinese literature but we have to learn English and we must pass CET-4 otherwise we can't graduate.
I think our country do care about English too much. Every student study English when they are very young but most people can't speak English as those people who live in English speaking countries. There are serious problems in our education. Students who have talent in art can't get admitted to art school but students who learn English very well but spend only a little time on art will be admitted. The father of hybrid rice Yuan Long Ping can't be elected as a Academician of CAS because he can't speak English. He was elected as a academician by another country and then CAS elected him as a academician break a rule. What a funny story. A great scientist who solve millions of people's food problem and save millions of people's lives can't be approved by Chinese Academy of Sciences. Why is English so important in China that what ever you have done, you will not get corresponding redound if you can't speak English.
I read some report that some people appeal to cancel the college entrance examination English exam. Here are the report.
一、中国人学英语几乎是“无用功”！你去采访一百个学过英语的人，大学通过四级的人，几乎没有几个能用英语自由交流！凡是英语好的，几乎都不是学校教的！

拔高英语地位是浪费教育资源

中国科学院院士江元生、陈懿、王德滋、陈洪渊、胡宏纹等5位院士联名上书建议高考改革将英语剔除出最后考试的想法，也得到江苏省内外名校的支持。大家认为：英语是一种工具，尽管重要但相对于语文、物理、化学等学科，其重要性要小得多。可事实上，英语目前已经成了中学与大学的“轴心”。“早就应该将英语从高考中剔除出来，但不是不学，可以在中学实行英语考级，像现在的大学四六级一样，无需将英语纳入高考当中，将英语纳入高考是一种失败！”南大化院的贾书记称。

　　河海大学的一位院长也称：英现在的大学英语四六级测试正在淡化，将来有可能取消，中学可以测试，但不能太难，只要达到日常口语训练水平即可。将英语纳入最后高考，是不科学的表现，也不符合我国教育国情，甚至是一种教育资源浪费。现在的大中小学生，将时间花在英语上的实在太多，而最后的作用却是微乎其微。

We have a three-days vacation and I went back home for my older sister's wedding. I feel that we are not children any more. Today, we have supper together in a restaurant and there were many children who are primary school students.
I don't want to be a child but I still feel a bit sorrow when I found that I am not a child any more because I feel that the time elapse so fast.
Finally, I don't know what I can write down so I just write these today.

If you ask me what I have learned from this week, I will say that I really don't learn something which is actual but I have much vibration when seeing the situation of these factories.
The first factory that we visit is a factory which produces gear wheels and the impression that it gave us most is it's very age-old and it's like the factory which was in the last century. I usually can see the factories like this in the film which is about the China in the last century. We all feel very depressed when seeing this. I think most collage students don't want to work in these factories, If so, I guess they may think that the collage is a waste of time. I don't want to be a worker like that, I saw that they are just doing their work all the time just like a machine. I don't want to be a machine to work just for living. I want to do the work that I want to do. I want to work for my dream not for making money because I am a human who has his own thinks. If I just work for living, then my life will be meaningless.
The following factories that we visited is much better than the first one. The machines are all numerical control machines, they are automatic and need less people to control them. So we don't see many people in this factory as the the first factory and it's much bigger.
I feel a bit confused for what I will do in the future after visiting these factories. Maybe I should keep studying. I want to be the man that will change the lives of human being. I want to change the world. I want to make it better and better. Because I have seen too much that people are wasting natural resources and polluting the environment. I think people are killing themselves if they keep doing so. So I want to change the situation.

Today I saw one saying which is about school should give students who are from 泰州 vacations that they want to see 胡锦涛 when he go back to 泰州.
Now I really really really very allergic to these sayings and the people who said these. They are all fool. We Chinese are an entirety（整体）. I don't know why there are so many people who want to divide us into different parts. Remember we are all Chinese, I don't want to hear who say :" I am 泰州人、镇江人、 南京人、北京人、、、".
I know we will feel proud if the place where we are from are developed or achieced great achiecements. But that is not the capital of our arrogant. I wish we can stick together.

So I feel a bit bored when there is little films for me to watch and I start trying to watch horror films. However, it surprised me when I found that horror films were not horror at all, so I was a bit disappointed. I watched all the famous horror films that I can think of. I feel became brave science I came to collage. Now, I like search any horror stories, supernatural events and horror films but there is little horror films lift for me to watch.
These days, I watched some old literary films like 《活着》、《阳光灿烂的日子》、《太阳照常升起》... I think these literary films are very good but not very popular. These films are like prose so not everyone can understand them and different people may have different opinions about them. I think this kind of films need us to get down to(静下心来） watch for some times. They are not the Hollywood blockbusters that we can gather and eat popcorn over watching. If you do so, than you will feel it is boring and that is why I didn't watch them in the past.
Nowadays, people often talk about whether is good to make literary films or commercial films. Commercial films can make more money while literary films are more elegant and they are more like works of art(艺术作品）but there are few people who want to spend they money watching it in cinemas. In my opinion, they are good films, although commercial films are more attractive, we need to watch literary films sometimes. After all, lives are not entertainments.

One day, one of my classmate bought a power twister（臂力器） and I can't make it bending for many times(我不能做多少个）. The other thing that hit me is that I heard from one of my roommate that there is one girl who can do more than one hundred push-ups. I haven't done push-ups science I graduated from primary school. So I didn't know how many push-up can I do but I felt it's not easy to finish it. So I started doing exercise three days ago.
I do jogging at night now. I think my physique is better than most people. I ran ten laps around the playground at a time while others only could run four laps or even less at a time. I think I can continue running more laps but I felt a bit boring for there is no one beside me to accompany me running, they all had a resat and I felt a bit tired too.
Before sleeping, I did one hundred push-ups at a time. But it was not easy for me. I feel very ache these days and I can't do even one push-up yesterday.
I will insist on exercising and I think I will have a stronger body soon.

听着好像很是正确，我们都要看清这样的世界，但是我们看得清吗？
每个人都会形成自己的价值观，在成长的道路上，世界只有一个，但是每个人看到的世界却是不一样的，并且我们能够真正亲身去体验到的世界是多么的渺小，比起我们现在所能知道的世界来说，就如天安门事件，我就不知道有多少人去经历过，那些还举着天安门事件的例子的人呀，有多少真正亲身的参加过呢，我们往往“看”到的不是真正发生的而是我们自己想看到的或是别人想让我们看到的，就像上面我说的那个人一样，他想让我们看到他自己的活着的世界的丑恶。
我很反感那些说着所谓这样那样的正义的言论，（可能事情是真实的），但自己真正地却在做着毁坏这个社会的事情，就像那些到处叫嚣着天安门事件叫嚣着中国黑暗面的人一样，这样的激进分子对于这个世界只是个祸害。就像前些年中日关系紧张时期时，好多人到处宣扬着狭隘的看似正义的民族意识，说什么抵制日货，捣毁日本产品，说什么示威游行，结果砸烂了很多日本车卖日本货的商店。。。这样的事情对吗？这些车不是我们中国同胞自己的吗？这些店不是我们中国同胞自己开的吗？他们有错吗？叫嚣着反抗邪恶自己却做着真正邪恶的事情，这样的事情正确吗？那些说这中国黑暗的人，他们除了宣扬自己的不满情绪外自己又真正做了什么正确的事情来改变这样的世界使世界变得更加美好了吗？除了一张大嘴巴到处叫嚣着自己的不满来撼动别人内心美好的鉴定的信念，扰乱了社会的秩序却不去做什么事情来改变的人，是最为可恶的！我承认世界是充满了许许多多的不对，但是我们得看到希望，看到美好的一面，当自己有能力的时候，应该默默地切实地去改变，改变这样的世界使之更加美好，而不是空有一张大嘴来到处宣扬世界的丑恶！要知道，很多人在没有形成自己的鉴定的正确的价值观的时候，是很容易被这样那样的话语所扭曲心灵的，特别是小孩子，记得当初上初中的时候，一个美术老师跟我们说选人大代表的事情，说，候选人都是自己不认识的。。。我感觉他说得很对。。。回去我跟我父亲说这样的事情，出乎我意料的是，他立马显得很担忧地说，这样的老师不对，他这是在宣扬自己的对于社会不公正的看法，并且加于学生身上。。。现在我能体会到了，虽然很多事情是真是的，但是我们不能那样到处看似正义地揭露，可能我们的无疑之举，却深深地扭曲了那些还在成形之中的心灵！那样的话，人类的世界就真的那么的丑恶了！
我向来是很叛逆的，我总是喜欢对着干，但是有些事情我们必须得端正我们的态度与眼光！我们得感谢这样的世界，这样的文化，让我们能够得以成长，形成自己的思想，并且认识到这样一个伟大的世界！感谢生命！

I don't think that using simplified Chinese characters is wrong. I think the importance is not the character itself but the information taken down by characters. We should develop and it is also not wrong for our Chinese characters to develop. Besides, traditional is also not so traditional that used in ancient periods. So I am confused of why there are so many people persist in using traditional Chinese characters. Maybe it is for the reason that it is still being used in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
I don't want to talk about whether we should use simplified Chinese characters or traditional Chinese characters. It's meaningless and a waste of time. We should go on developing and shouldn't be hinder by the wrong opinions of tradition. If tradition hinder our steps of developing, than we should lose it.
Our way is in the front not in the past. we are living in the current society not in the past and our goals are in the future. Tradition is just the memory of the past and like the power or the spring board of development. We should be like a rocket, if the tradition become a burden, than we throw it away.

The teacher praised our team for we did much better in coordinator between teammates than before and other teams.
Without doubts, we won the match again, so I am very happy now even though I am very tired.
I encounter a strange thing. A white pigeon flied into our dormitory tomorrow and it did't fly away when we touched it. It stayed in our dormitory to sleep during the night and flied away this morning. I did't feel much strange for I thought it may be too tired to return to it's nest. However, what surprised me is that when I fetch hot water in the hot water supply room. I found a gray pigeon stay on the tap and it also didn't fly away when I touched it. Is there some big things that might happen. Is 2012 coming. Oh what a strange day it is.

I usually feel bad at the end of vocations. One reason is my free time is over and the other one is I have to spend much time in doing my homework. I think I'm not conscious enough. That is one of my big problems.
I always ask my roommate:" Will it rain or not tomorrow!" on Sunday. Because we have physical education lessons on Monday, if it rains, we won't have to have PE class. I like sports but I don't like PE. hahaha maybe I am a bit lazy.
Finally, I want to thank all the friends who I encountered in this website and those who help me correct my entries. I find the happiness of learning English in this website, so I really love it.

I felt a bit tired when it was about four p.m. so I got into bed to have a rest but when I awaked ,it was already seven past thirty. When I was sleeoing, I dreamed in dream and I was worken up by something which was terrific. It was really a bad dream I think.
The other reason is that there was one person who fell asleep so quickly that he snored too loud. I must be disturbed by him to some degree.
The last reason is the one that made me angry most. There was one person who addicted to watching teleplay and I guess it may be Korean drama because he has been watching it for many days. It's the Korean drama which has so many episodes. I thought he may not go to sleep, but he went to bed unexpectedly at about four a.m. and now, he is still sleeping.
I think we should care about others, especially the people who live around you.
We should be so selfish such as stay up night too late to watch TVs and pay no attention to others.

After the last jumping of building event, the teacher who is in charge of the class(我表达“班主任”这个意思，但是没找到单独的一个单词来表示班主任这一意思）give us a meeting about psychological education inorder to preventing us from self-murder. He also told us that there must be somebody who kill himself or herself because of the high pressure.
Today, I read an entry mainly about one of her friend who has psychogical problems and wants to drop out of school in this website. Anyhow I think he is much better than those who can't face to the wold and kill themselives even though he is a bit heavy(抑郁，想不开）.
Maybe our education has many problems, but I think we can't kill ourselves in any case.

But the story is not over, when he saw the only two eggs, he was surprised and asked "why did you only buy two eggs?" I said that it's you who asked me to buy two eggs. Now he was speechless and explained to me that in the Chinese two not only means two but alse means some. I don't think I was wrong or know little about our culture. So I replied to him:"in the ancient periods, when people was using the literary language(文言文），they used two as some but now two is just two."
Anyhow, I just bought only two eggs!

We are not allowed to have pot in dormitory,so we use it stealthily and hide it when it is not be used.By the way,we don't have pots,we borrow it from other dormitory.
First of all,we bought a chicken four bags of meat ball one bag of sweet potato noodles and many vegetables. We didn't make many different kinds of dishes but put all of them in the pot to make a pot of soup like a chafing dish.
Wo are not professional cook,so that the meal wasn't that good,but we were all very happy yesterday.
