In China, if a pair of lovers walk on the street, most of the time the guy takes the handbag for the girl. Even if they are not lovers, guys usually take bags for girls. I am curious, is it the same in your country and region?

If they had a heavy bag then maybe yes.

I generally carry heavy bags for girls, but not handbags. Handbags are small, and I think girls here prefer to carry them anyway as they are fashion accessories.

Maybe boys are just being gentle, and girls would take that for granted at the same time. So you can see the phenomenon almost everywhere in China. hehe

It is. It's usually out of manners of because it's men trying to behave like a gentleman. Someone that is very polite and mannerly.

Here, guys will hold shopping bags but are timid about purses. They will only hold them if the girl absolutely needs him to, and then give it right back.

My generation was particularly bad about this. We'd gladly carry any kind of bag, package or parcel EXCEPT a purse. The purse was often treated like it was packed full of dangerous explosives - held gingerly and at arm's length. :)

Hmmm, I think my father has never taken purse for my mother too. He also seems afraid of this. :))

Interesting, everyone is different. I don't hold their handbags, I give them piggy-back rides. They love them!

I rotate myself couple times to get them dizzy and they scream! lol :) I giggle, they eventually giggle, they always want a piggyback ride
