Taian is a tourist city that located at the foot of mountain Taishan, and about 500 km from Beijing. It only takes 2 or 3 hours from Beijing to Taian by the high-speed rail.
Taian's economic development mainly depends on tourism and agriculture, and its industry is not developed, so it is not very rich. The mountain Taishan is not very high, only 1545m. However, these do not affect their famous. They are famous for their profound culture, and the mount still looks majestic because it is located in plain.
For thousands of years, there are many emperors offered sacrifices to heaven and earth on mount Taishan, and many literati left their original handwriting on many stones. What is more, Taian is only about 50 km from Qufu, the hometown of Confucius. Confucius' thought and philosophy have deeply influenced Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese thought and life.

There are more than 40 bullet trains go from Beijing to Shanghai everyday, and about one quarter of them stop at Tai'an, so it is convenient :)
