On one's birthday, we, Japanese are given presents from someone.

On the other hand, a birthday girl or boy gives present or buy cake for someone.

As a female Spanish class mate's birthday today, I had some cake at the class.

I wonder whether other countries would have the same custom.

By the way, can you tell me how to express, 'a person who has a birthday today' or 'a person who is a birthday today'? I guess both are incorrect.
