At the station.

I usually take a train to go to work everyday.
Almost every morning I see a man who is foreigner.
He is like skinhead and tall.
I think he is a worker at somewhere near the station.

I want to talk to him in English.
But I have no chance and bravery because I'm too shy.

And before my friend said to me that talking to anyone who is a foreigner is bad habit of Japanese people.

I don't think so.
How do you think about that?


Please correct my sentences and give me your opinion.

    skinhead isn't the best word to describe a bald man. it has a negative meaning

I have lived in Japan and it wouldn't bother me if a Japanese person talked to me, if they're friendly. If they are genuinely curious about where I am from or want to speak English, it's ok I think. I was once bothered by a Japanese guy who kept calling me 外人さん, kind of mockingly. that's not ok. but if you want to practice english with a foreigner, it's ok. just be careful

My friend said that Japanese people talk to foreigners with thier interest.But I think that is old time in Japan.Now so many foreigners are in Japan. I want to be friend with foreigners to practice English.

you should! don't be shy, it's good practice to talk to foreigners. we see that you're trying to learn and most foreigners won't think it's weird if you try and practice. it's a good chance for us to speak Japanese too.

sure! if you ever see foreigners looking lost you can always try and help them. are there any clubs or ways you can meet foreigners?

Yes! I'm studying in English class.
But I want more chance to speak English with native.
Because I'm not so young so I have not so many time.

I see. Definitely watch english videos online and try and repeat what the actors say. thats what I do for Japanese and it helps pronunciation.

haha thank you! I always get nervous writing in Japanese, it makes sense to me but I wonder how my Japanese looks to native speakers. I'm sure I 直訳 a lot..
Your English is better than you think. if you keep studying, you'll be great!!

I'll be back in the wintertime for new years :)
