As a priest, Fr. Flynn doesn’t act morally, but does something to do with sodomy and paralyzes himself with pleasure caused by his sin. And then, his paralysis is also revealed when he constantly and habitually keeps close to our narrator, even though he has been expelled by doing something immoral. On the other hand, if Fr. Flynn isn’t expelled because of harassing others, but because of simony, his degeneration with uncanny behavior is another paralysis. Fr. Flynn can do nothing to make his life whole after his expulsion, but paralyzes himself with those weird deeds. No matter what reason makes him expelled from the church, Fr. Flynn’s two paralyses, his stroke and his way of living, both physically and mentally cause his death.
