The rise of the Internet
In the 60s, the USA wanted to find a solution not to stop communications between the armed forces, in case of a nuclear war. Therefore the ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) created the Arpanet, a net made of different communication nodes. We only got the World Wide Web (the "real" Internet) the 1991, thanks to the CERN.
