The 1st and 2nd phrases are contradicting each other. Woul be better to say "Eu trabalho todo dia, exceto nos fins de semana.".

mas eu entendo a maior parte do tempo.
Spanish and Portuguese somehow are similar , not all, but went I read some Portuguese I can understand what it saying somehow.
