Radiation Exposure to Prevent Food Poisoning

In July, about 200 people, who ate broiled eels and got food poisoning in Ehime Prefecture, Japan in July.
In other countries, the radiation exposure is often used to prevent food poisoning, but the method is prohibited in Japan. It is a method approved by the WHO and it is questioned why it cannot be used in Japan.
Back in 1972, is approved only for preventing germination of potatoes. At that time, the Ministry of Health issued a minister's notice to ban the radiation exposure for other food. According to the report at that time, the ministry intended to approve for other food if the method was confirmed to be safe.
