I just saw that my friend was standing next a dinning table and having dinner. So I tried to ask her why she didn't sit down and eat. But I got confused to make that sentence.
Would it be okay if I say "Why are you eating sitting?" or "Why don't you sit and eat?"
Could you please let me know?

How do I say this question?
I just saw that my friend was standing next a dining table and having dinner.
But I got confused about how to make that sentence.
Would it be okay if I say "Why are you eating sitting?" or "Why don't you sit and eat?"
"Why are you eating sitting?" is an okay sentence, but the opposite of what you mean. A better way to say this sentence would be "Why are you eating while sitting?"
Perhaps you meant to write "Why AREN'T you eating sitting?" This is also correct, but it would sound better as "Why aren't you sitting while eating?" Even better would be "Why aren't you sitting (down) to eat?"
