The more we learn about each other, the further we are from each other and the closer we are to each other.
When I was a first year at high school, I met a guy I hadn't met before.
At first, I didn't know about him at all.
As days went by, however, I learned more about him and I've started thinking that we are different from each other in terms of a variety of things such as view of life and occupation.
To my surprise, that strengthened our confidential relationship rather than broke it.
Like this, as we learn about each other, the difference among us becomes bigger and the friendship among us becomes stronger.

Distant and Near No difference really. Perhaps distant is better than far for relationships. Close and near are the same.
The more we learn about each other, the further we are from and at the same time the closer we are to each other. I didn't want to use "each other" three times in the same sentence. You could think about the sentence without the last "each other". "the further we are and at the same time the closer we are". How about "the more distant we are and at the same time the closer we are".
When I was a freshman at high school, I became acquainted with a fellow I hadn't known before.Just different expressions.
At first, I didn't know anything about him at all.
With the passing of time I learned more about him and I started to realize that we are different from each other in many ways such as our perspectives on life and occupation. I don't know what you mean by this. Occupation means what you do for a living. Do you mean "the way we like to spend out time" meaning what occupies us?
To my surprise, that realization strengthened our relationship rather than weakening it.
In this way, as we learn about one another and differences become more apparent, friendship becomes even stronger.
I think your sentence should be "perspectives on life and future careers." Career is more general and inclusive than occupation. If you've already decided what you want to do you can occupations. He wants to be a doctor and you want to be an academic.
