Listening to NPR news the other day, I met one strange word; temporary census jobs.
I looked up some dictionaries in vain. I tried to do a search on the Internet unsuccessfully.
I not only understand the meaning of "temporary jobs" but also "census". But I can not find out the meaning of "temporary census jobs".
Someone! Would you explain them? Or would you tell me how I should look up it?

A temporary census job is a job that is only available for a short time during the census. Workers perform a variety of tasks including the following: Calling peoples homes, visiting homes, making sure the paperwork is properly registered, training other temporary census workers, etc. They ask simple questions such as "How many people live in your home?" "How much is the average income per person and for the home?" "How old are you?" etc, etc, etc.
