I had my account of Lang-8 months ago but I haven't been an active user by now. I seriously begun using Lang-8 since yesterday because I wanted to do new things for next year 2012. So far, I was honestly amazed with any posted messages in my mother language. And I was pretty impressed with their energy for mastering foreign languages. But I wonder why people are such passionate to learn non-native languages. What is truly good ?

What's the advantage of learning foreign languages?/What's the perk of learning foreign languages?/What's (so) great about foreign languages? *Lots of options, each with different nuances. GDoe5's second sentence is good too.

I began using Lang-8 seriously since yesterday because I wanted to try new things in (the year) 2012.
So far, I am honestly amazed at all of the entries posted in my native language/mother tongue. *If you ask me, "my mother tongue" sounds extremely formal, but I thought I'd give you the option anyway.
And I was pretty impressed with their enthusiasm for mastering foreign languages.
But I wonder why people are so passionate about learning foreign languages. *Or, "I can't help but wonder..."
What's so great about it?
At any rate, I wish you the best of luck! Provided I don't take another 7 month break from Lang-8, I'll be here to help should you need it :)
