MAYU : Very Cold Winter (0)

It's very cold these days in Japan. Today's temperature is the lowest in this winter.
Instead of this weather, I often feel like eat ice cream. In fact, ice cream is sold better as the winter comes (one of my friends said so).
Speaking of winter, I heard interesting news on TV. Kotatsu, which is like a table with a blanket is becoming popular in some Europe countries. I don't have one in my house, but I'm sure it makes your body warm.
I like winter, but I'm not good at cold weather. How do you avoid coldness?

MAYU : My coming-of-age event (0)

In Japan, January 9th is called coming-of-age day (seijin-no-hi). Almost all people living in the same city whose age is 20 gather and join the ceremony. They usually wear kimono or suit, but I didn't join it because I hate the crowded place:-<

After the ceremony, I joined my junior high school's class reunion in the evening. We enjoyed talking, eat and drink together. It was exciting to meet friends after a long time.

MAYU : Happy New Year! (0)

What did you do on New Year’s Day? I always go to my grandparents’ house and spend time with them. It’s amazing because I can see their face and talk with them for a long time! In Japan, people eat osechi foods on January 1st. Each food of osechi has a meaning of health, wealth, and other lucky things. All women in my family are busy to make them.
Other event on January 1st is “Otoshidama”, which senior people give some money to children as a greeting of the New Year. In general, if you aren’t a child, you can get otoshidama while you are a student.
I experience Japanese traditional with family every year. I think it’s the best thing of New Year’s Day!

MAYU : Illumination for Xmas (0)

In December, almost all of Japanese are ready for Xmas.
Normal families decorate their houses, and of course, large supermarkets put great decorations around there.
However, there was a big accident happened this march: tsunami. Atomic power plants were destroyed, furthermore, large number of people were killed by it. Because of the disaster, Japanese people think we shouldn't enjoy Xmas so much and have to save power as we can possible.
Then, supermarkets try to do some devices. Of course they use LED lights. I heard, furthermore, one of the popular supermarkets cut CDs in star shape and put as decorations. It's for reflect lights and shine using less light bulbs.
These devices are not only good for people minds but also environment.

MAYU : The Most Popular Elementary School Student (1)

In Japan, children actors are becoming popular and popular. Children who play roles on dramas or advertisements go to special school for entertainment. They learn how to act, speak aloud their lines, and so on. Of course, their parents pay for the lesson, but it cost much more than other lessons like music instruments, calligraphy and so on. Why do they let their children go to this kind of school?
Some of them want their children to be famous actors in the future, and earn much more money than they have paid. In the other case, they are just happy to see their children enjoy taking the lesson.
Recently, the most popular girl actress has appeared on many TV programs. She is very cute and looks enjoy her job. However, I'm worrying about her daily life as a general girl. Can she study at school or play with her friends?

MAYU : Trip to Okinawa (0)

Last holiday, I took a trip with mother to Okinawa for three days. I had wanted to visit here for a long time because Okinawa's cultures are exotic and landscapes are beautiful. We went there by a plane and arrived at Okinawa at night. It took for less than two hours.
Mr. Miyahira who is my mother's friend navigated us. He lives in Okinawa with his family. When he was born, Okinawa was not a part of Japan but a part of America. Okinawa was named Ryukyu kingdom until Meiji-era. After the World War 2, Okinawa was controlled by America, which lasted until 1972. Because of such a history, it has many different customs from Japan.

MAYU : Local Baseball Team (0)

The prefecture where I live has a local baseball team. It is named Softbank Hawks. This month, it won the first prize! There is a baseball stadium near my house, so some people live around here gathered and watched the final match at a street of stores. I also cheered it on TV in my house with family. After the game, not only small stores but also large supermarkets sold things in special prize.
Hawks hasn't won for eight years, so players looked very happy.

MAYU : Colored leaves (0)

In Japan, most leaves turn into red, yellow and brown in the autumn. This year, however, it's late for the season because of the high temperature in the autumn. There are ginkgo tree lines in front of my house, which aren't colored well. Colored leaves play important roles for sightseeing. Many people visit other prefectures' mountains or valleys to see beautiful landscapes.
I think human activities have caused the strange temperature. I'm sad that the nature can't feel the autumn atmosphere. I hope to see beautiful trees around my house next year.

MAYU : November 3th (4)

3rd November is a holiday in Japan. It is called "Culture Day" Almost Universities hold school festivals around the first week in November. Students make group (often make groups among the same club activities), and they sell light meals and sweets. Some groups exhibit photos, pictures and other hand made goods, and the other groups hold haunted houses. Interesting events and talk shows are also held. Other universities' students and ordinary people comes school festivals.
I also visited another university's festival to see my friends. Their university is much larger than mine, so I nearly lost my way!

MAYU : Halloween (0)

Halloween is not so popular custom in Japan. There are few people visit others' houses saying "Trick or treat!" When I was young, I disguised as a witch or a cat and joined in a Halloween party which was hold among my English conversation classmates.
However, large supermarkets and other stores decorate with Halloween goods; small pumpkins, stuffed animals and so on. Especially in sweets shops, they sells cakes and cookies made of pumpkins. Sweet potatoes and Japanese chestnuts are also in season.
We often say "the autumn for reading, for sports, for studying" because October has cool and dry temperatures and fine weather in Japan. This year, however, it is much hotter than ever before.
Then, we let customers taste new or bargain food goods and try making customers to buy them.
I always become glad to see customers enjoy tasting foods. Of course it's difficult to let them to buy the good, in addition, I have to keep standing for about eight hours.
Sometimes my boss makes me to go the store which is far away from my house!
As I write, there are a few hard problems in this job, but I usually enjoy working as a mannequin staff.

MAYU : Generation Gap (2)

In Japan, especially among the entertainment business, it gets popular that a man marry to a woman who is much younger. Their generation gap is from 20 to 40.
Some people think women want men's fortune in this case, but I don't think this opinion is true.
I think women get a relief to marry to older men.
However, this type of marriage has many problems. For example, it's difficult to have a child. Second, husband's life time is short. It's natural that husbands die earlier then their wives. Wives would be sad if their husbands died.

Although I'm agree with this marriage in the point that women feel relief, I don't want to marry to such a older man.

How do you think of this trend? Do you want to marry to older person or younger?

MAYU : Psychology~a first impression~ (0)

I take a Psychology in the university.
In this class, we learn that how people understand others.

When you saw a man for the first time, you make his/her image by reputations, appearances and strong points. In other words, you conjecture others from these elements. Therefore you often make mistakes because of assumptions.
Unconsciously, you don't want to change the first impression of others you have made.
That is because if your conjuctures weren't right, you would get anxious.

Do you have a method to give a good first impression to others?
In my case, I make a smile as well as possible.

Watching a TV, I heard Palestine offerd joining in United Nations.
A young Palestinian girl who looked 10 years old answered the interview,
"The President Obama won't disagree that we have own country because American have already got their country."
I was surprised such a young girl had such an opinion.
I can't forget her serious face.

During from September 21st to 26th is called Higan.
In the Buddihist world, people think dead ancients come back to "our" world.
Although I don't know the reason, people eat ohagi (like a sweet rice cake covered with sweet beans) and welcome their come back.
I'm not a serious Buddhist, but I ate it yesterday...it was delicious:D
This is a photo of a flower named higan-bana. They are full in bloom in this season.

MAYU : Last holiday　 (0)

I visited my grand parents' house last Saturday. In fact, it was my grandfather's birthday!
He'd become 79 years old, so there is 60 years generation gap between he and I.
He looks younger than his real age. I think it's because he likes gardening and touches the nature everyday. I like to see his garden, where many species of flower and herb are growing.
It's a good hobby to keep garden pretty though I don't want him to clean there for a long time. He got a heatstroke this summer＞＜

Thank you for reading❤

MAYU : My part time job (0)

I've worked in a hotel as a part-time job since this May.
I receive phonecalls from guests and people want to take reservations.
Another five girls who are also university students work together.
I can get along with them, but I have another problem; overwork. The time period is fixed from 6 p.m to 10 p.m., but my boss always gets us to do overtime.
Therefore, I get home about 12 or 1 a.m. everytime!
I sometimes don't want to go to my job...

I forgot to indroduce myself＞＜

Hello, everyone. My name is Mayu Fuchigami.
I go to Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka and major in English. I started to study English when I was ten because I'd loved western music. Even though I study English for ten years, I can't use English well...it's difficult to learn foreign language. I want to improve my English to communicate with people in all over the world for making friends and for my job in the future.

Thank you for reading, and nice to meet you!

MAYU : Summer vacation (0)

I went to the U.K. this summer. Actually, this is the first time to go abroad for me.
It is not a langauge-learning program, which one of Seinan teachers introduced to me. It contained sightseeing and English lessons. It was a nice trip, and I had a very good time there!

It was the best memory in this summer vacation. If you have been abroad or have joined a langauge-learning program, tell me about your experience!
