What do you think are the differences between Rugby and American Football?
These two sports are very popular sports. Also, Rugby is very similar to American
Football. However, there are differences between Rugby and American Football; there are
players, rules, and fields. The following is a summary of differences between Rugby and
American Football.
One difference is the players. My first example is the number of players.
The number of Rugby team has player is fifteen players on the game. There are eight
forwards and seven backs. In contrast, the number of American Football player is eleven
players on the field at one time. There are six offensive players and five defensive
players. Second example is uniforms; Rugby player wear only helmet but American Football
player wear heavy protective gear; helmet, gloves, shoulder supporters.
Second difference is rules; one of example is the substitution.
Rugby’s rule can change their player until seven times if player is becoming tired. On the
other hand, American Football’s rule can change anyone during the breaks between players.
Second example is method of pass.
Rugby can pass only forward pass but American Football can pass both forward and back.
Final the difference is field type.
One of example is width of field. Rugby’s field has 100 meters long by 70 meters with 20
meters in goal area. There is a line across the field every 10 meters. In contrast,
American Football’s field has 109.7 meters long by 48.8 meters wide. Near each end of
field is a goal line, there are 91.4maters. My second example is how to use the field for
player position. The Rugby field use as two separate units; forwards and back but American
football field use as three separate units; the offence, the defense, and the special teams.
In conclusion, the differences are players, rules, and field. I prefer to American
Football to Rugby. The reason why that is American Football’s rule is more aggressive than
Rugby, so I am excited at I see the game on Television.
I would recommend watching American Football and Rugby. American Football is interesting and
has many different ways you can play and the players show more excitement for the game.
