I noticed that I use aizuchi often when I talk to someone in English. That sounds weird in English. When I talk to native English speakers, they just wait until I finish talking.
Aizuchi are considered reassuring to the speaker, indicating that the listener is active and involved in the discussion. Aizuchi are significant when we speak Japanese. However, I worry that I might have made English speaker nervous because I heard that Aizuchi sound like rushing someone. I have to not use Aizuchi when I speak English. On the other hand, if Japanese learner use Aizuchi, they will sound more natural speaker!
