日記をよく書き始めましたが終わりませんでした。
I often start to write a diary but I don't finish it.
私の日本語は不進歩すると思います。
My Japanese is regressing I think.
文の正しい書き方を知らないことがイライラしています。
It is frustrating to not know the correct way to write a sentence.
大丈夫です、もっとを努力しましょう。
It's ok, I will try harder.
最近庭には冬が来ました。
Recently winter has come to my garden.
リンゴの時期が終わりましたがマンダリンやオレンジは実り始まります。
The apple season is over but the oranges and mandarins have begun to ripen.
マンダリンが大好きので子供達はうれしいです！
The children are happy because they love mandarins =)

終わる sounds "a thing" itself is over. It's difficult to explain. Here are examples. The summer vacation is over. 夏休みが終わる。 I couldn't(didn't) finish my homework. 宿題を終えることができませんでした。
最近、庭には冬が来ました。
「には」 indicates "it hasn't come to other places yet." 最近、うちの庭に、冬がやってきました。We don't know about other places. 最近、うちの庭にも、冬がやってきました。「にも」indicates other places already has been in winter.
リンゴの時期(季節）は終わりましたが、マンダリンやオレンジが実り始めました。
I'm sorry I can't explain why first one should be 「は」、but it should be 「は」。
子供達はマンダリンが大好きなので、喜んでいます！（うれしそうです。）

You write in the present tense in English. It might be better to write Japanese sentences in the present tense too.

Anyway, your mandarins look great! I planted goyas(bitter melons) in my tiny garden. I hope they will fruit this year.
I have never grown bitter melon, how do you prepare it to eat?
I also like the cold air and clear sky in winter in Japan, though.
I cut a bitter melon in half and after removing the seeds and white soft parts, slice, put some salt and squeeze the water.
Next, I pour 2 spoons of oil in a frying pan and fry sliced bitter melon until it becomes soft.
Then I put eggs or tofu and fry them while seasoning with salt and pepper.
The bitter taste cools our body on a hot summer day!
Hm, that sounds really interesting, I might try and grow some next year!

And they agreed that we can accept all combinations.
They are so vague even for Japanese people.
