This is my 199th entry. The 200th is of course tomorrow.
Anyway, yesterday I joined the opening ceremony of all South Pacific Education Minister Conference. The Minister of Education and the Prime Minister in Vanuatu gave us a speech in English. I tried to do shadowing during their speech. Their English weren't very fast, so I could follow it and I found that it's easier for me to understand when I did shadowing than only did listening. The Prime Minister said like "Education is the fastest way to advance our country." I thought that he is correct. However, I know that most of national leaders give such a speech, even though they use much of national budget for other things like current Japan. I hope that the Prime Minister will attache importance to education in Vanuatu.

You can say "I thought that he was correct," or "I think that he is correct."
However, I know that most of national leaders give such a speech, even though they use much of the national budget for other things like current Japan.
I wasn't sure what you mean by "current Japan." Do you mean "the current situation in Japan"?
I hope that the Prime Minister will attach importance to education in Vanuatu.

The Minister of Education and the Prime Minister of Vanuatu gave us a speech in English.
I tried to shadow them during their speech.
They weren't speaking very fast, so I could follow what they were saying. I found that it's easier for me to understand when I'm shadowing, as opposed to just listening.
The Prime Minister said something like "Education is the fastest way to advance our country." I think that he is correct.
However, I know that most of national leaders say such things in speeches, even though they use much of national budget for other things, like in Japan.
I hope that the Prime Minister will attache importance to education in Vanuatu.
