Off the coast in Puerto Rico, 1.8 tons of cocaine that was supposed to be destined for the US was seized, authorities announced on April 2nd.
Allegedly, it was worth $50 million and it had been a record amount for the past few years.

On the night of April 1st, authorities intercepted a 9-meter boat that was 20 kilometers off Dorado, a resort area in Puerto Rico.
A large amount of cocaine was discovered in the boat.
Angel Melendez, the local head at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said, "We have seized more than three tons of cocaine for the last month."
Most of cocaine is smuggled through the border between the US and Mexico, but some of it has been trafficked through the Carribian Sea due to a crackdown by both countries.
