I took the medical check up the other day.
This is a obligation. The employers have to take this check up twice a year in my company.
Firstly they measured my height ,weight and blood pressure. Then they took my blood sample.
Needless to say with a syringe! (Ouch!) And the eyesight, the sense of hearing, the X-ray of my chest,
the electro cardio gram, the urinalysis. These were not so tough to take. And it didn't take long time, although the site of the medical check up was rather crowded.
Finally the examination of the stomach. The most tough and annoying part of this medical check up!
I was told not to eat any food and not to drink since last night ( since 9 pm) for this. And just before this examination, we are forced to drink a 'special' beverage. This drink is called a barium. The barium is white in color and tastes awful. The barium helps the doctor examin the stomach, helps them take picture of the stomach clealy. Immediately after this examination, I was given a pill which helps the barium in my stomach let go outside
Is it customary to drink a barium when taking examination for your stomach in your country?
I really wish somebody could invent nice alternative for a barium in the near future.
The medical check up is really tiring. I felt exhausted physically and mentally.
